Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. The worst case is not being able to run your 100% offline app just because it could not verify your registration with the servers while offline or play a single player game because it must be verified with the publisher that you actually bought the game and not pirated it. Meanwhile the actual pirates have circumvented this and everything works fine without any payment. It's just the general theme of the world at this moment.
