This is a really huge problem. I follow a lot of people with whom I interact, and it carries the risk that any few of them can censor someone for me permanently without me having any say. It doesn't sound right in any shape or form.

Fearmongering... You will always see when that happens because it will display the "Show Anyway" button. The code is open source, anyway can review it. Things only entirely disappear when you hide them in the app. And it's only for your user.
Fearmongering? Do you really believe I have bad intentions here? I don't even know how many user reports it takes to hide a user. How can I see how many people my following have censored for me and who is being censored? Can I turn this off? Can't you see how this feature can be abused, especially when discussing political or controversial topics? Do you really believe by putting "Show anyway" button in front of every post of the user won't have any impact on a person's reach. Last, I think this is an issue of concern. Wasn't censorship the main reason we build nostr?
I asked for some clarification on this the other day, which Vitor did actually give. I have to say it's all a bit confusing as a total casual lol. I would probably like further clarification of reasoning 9f implementing such unpopular mechanisms seeing as (according to Will) no other client does this. View quoted note โ†’
