Understand that influencers on legacy social media are structurally incapable of thinking outside their slop based monetization loop. Their incentives have atrophied their imagination and their will. They neither value nor can meaningfully comprehend personal sovereignty. Even the loudly anti-Zionist ones. They would rather plead for engagement scraps from technocratic gatekeepers than reclaim an inch of personal agency. Trying to onboard these people to Nostr is pure wasted effort. They are the absolute worst candidates for nostr pilling. image

That dude is a wanna Jackson Hinkle, just as dumb too.
This is why I think it's better to reach out to #mastodon ... (A), these are people who already understand the value of social media decentralization, (B) they have no easy way of monetization to begin with (they tend to have to say "visit my patreon" or whatever), and (C) we can kinda-sorta actually communicate with them over the bridges, unlike X or Bluesky. Just like it's easier to onboard people to Bitcoin who already have "broken money" than already have access to 1st-world financial products, it will be easier to onboard to Nostr the ~millions of Mastodon users who have zero means of monetization.
I have the feeling that trying to bring YouTubers or influencers to 'nostr' is the equivalent of wanting to bring TV to the internet. many of these people have already invested energy and years of their lives in creating a community on those pages, trying to make them try 'nostr' is like making them start from scratch and although all those pages have many problems, they will do whatever it takes to defend the little they still have before starting again.
someone created the client mostr.pub that acts as a bridge between 'nostr' and the fediverse. they also did a relay so that if you want to see what they publish there, you can subscribe: wss://relay.mostr.pub/
The only thing mastodon and Nostr have in common is decentralization, you actually have more of a chance of being censured on mastodon than traditional, centralized social media which is the complete opposite of what Nostr stands for.
Yep, aware of #mostr and #momostr -- had the pleasure of being cussed out by the Dev of the former for pointing out its issues 🙃
The extent to which you can get "banned" on Mastodon is only one server... And there are hundreds if not thousands of different active servers, as I've seen as I've interacted with people across the bridge. Practically everyone that I followed has been on a different server.
Do you want to have to set up a new account every time someone decides you’re not following their rules? I get it, it’s their server, their rules and therein lies the problem, 1000 servers with 1000 admins literally censoring what people can and cannot say. At least on Nostr, if you don’t like what someone has to say you just mute them and they go bye bye, you can’t go crying to an admin because you don’t agree with what someone says.
You kind of need to let legacy social media come to a slow boil and boil alive in its own pot tbh. You can of course point out to the intelligent ones in the pot (whether they have 100 or 100,000 followers) that they're participating in the largest public propaganda psyop the world has ever seen and get them to jump out But I don't think you want the ones that are actively collaborating with the regime(s) to turn up the heat to show up here. Just my humble opinion.
