No actually it’s the opposite. I understand not everyone is running a full node. The point is that I and others have the option to self custody and pay at 10,000 retailers with square. Can’t say the same for Monero or the umpteen shitcoins. It’s pure cope.
What it really is: low IQ and motivated reasoning. It is objectively better than any percentage of the LN has the ability to use bitcoin for retailers even if everyone is not running a full node. You apply a purity test to cope with this fact. Monero does not even have this option. You brought up tether mentioned tether even though it is definitionally custodial and censorable. You just have BDS and you’re coping the hardest I’ve ever seen anyone cope. Just drop your BDS and purity tests. It’s why you’ve been spinning your wheels and getting nowhere with adoption.

Only because nobody is using Lightning. There is not enough bytes on the L1 to accommodate any significant number of people doing self-custody with their own node and channels. The vision of LN is a future where everyone is using a shitcoin called Cashu or Lightning that can be rugpulled at any given moment and only a handful of people can afford to do an immutable transaction on the blockchain. The only reason you can self-custody is that Lightning is a ghost town, and the number of Lightning channels open is extremely small. There’s over an order of magnitude more Bitcoin in WBTC, for example.
