Using money as identity breaks both its money and its identity properties
I find myself repeating this over and over in different contexts. Avoid accepting unnecessarily large payments, because your customer might expect you to behave like a custodian. Avoid making unnecessarily large purchases, because your vendor may rug you.

I agree that markets will decide. Long relationships already exist - its called an account or a sim card. Short relationships are enabled by e-cash. This is where the novelty lies!
