Can you run these and send back the output: ls -l /usr/bin/parecord grep Exec /usr/share/applications/manent.desktop /usr/bin/manent With the third command the app starts from the terminal. If recording works from there, the problem is the launcher's environment and not the package. Also useful: with the app open, the PATH it actually has: cat /proc/$(pgrep -n manent)/environ | tr '\0' '\n' | grep ^PATH=
