After researching manufacturing in Australia for a few weeks I have concluded that for all the politicians dreams of a technology revolution here, it's not happening.
Greatest barrier is energy, and energy policy looks beyond grim.
America will have a manufacturing resurgence, but we should focus our efforts on an energy resurgence.
Nuclear (private investment, fuck the state), de-regulation, microgrids, bitcoin.

Probably not politically feasible, but don't you have more than enough coal? Or is it mostly metallurgical coal?
Huge amounts of both coking coal and thermal coal
And natural gas too
