SimpleX tries to stop server-side metadata that would come from a targeted attack, beyond what XMPP can provide.
And the example used for it is that the CIA compromised a Russian XMPP server, with the VPS provider's help (Hetzner), to get metadata only. But 99% of people should not be worried about their self-host XMPP server being targeted by the CIA for metadata only.
On the other hand, HydraVeil tries to stop browser fingerprint metadata, for any service Tor Browser breaks. This is something literally everyone has to deal with regularly, as with a browser you directly interact with the enemy. And Librewolf, Brave, Firefox, and others are very leaky. A single use with a big tech site brands and fingerprints it completely.
But yet "influencers" gush over SimpleX, for under 1% of the population,
And disregard, censor, or ignore HydraVeil, for 99% of the population.
Why? Because the SimpleX dev got funded by Bill Gates to literally PAY influencers like Techlore's “NewOil” Nathan Bartram with the Surveillance Report to shill it. And then what a coincidence, he literally tells his fans to ignore our project when they ask him about it, because we have no fiat bank accounts to rain on him.
Nathan Bartram told his podcast fans that he sides with Google and Facebook, over me. How do you not see that the very purpose of HydraVeil is that you can continue to use those services in a more private way?

Interesting.
I prefer self hosted XMPP server over self hosted SimpleX.
So is HydraVeil something that’s installed server-side, on Linux let’s say, and then your browser (on Mac or Windows) points to it like a proxy? Or does it require Linux on client side as well? Or is it a browser extension that installs into Brave?
Most people run HydraVeil as an appimage on Linux. Inside HydraVeil there are browser profiles specifically tailored to combat browser fingerprinting. So you can use it on any machine and have a specific browsing profile for certain activities.
Isolated browsers for isolated behaviour.
SMH is there any left that hasn't sold out....
Never heard of Hydraveil, but what you're describing sounds amazing! Going to do a deep dive about this. Was very disappointed hearing that all browsers are flawed. If there's a better alternative, that will definitely make my day :-)
Can Hydraveil be used on Android with GrapheneOS?
me too, feel free to join our group chat:

It's currently a Linux AppImage, however the VPN service can be used on Android and provides a number of benefits as well, such as less blocked IPs, smaller single country providers for better legal protection and decentralization, and cost as it's only $1 in crypto.
Awesome glad to hear, check out hydraveil.net
Do you even read the nonsense you write? We supported NewOil with a tiny amount because we liked what they do and they promoted SimpleX to their audience instead. Where plural comes from is unclear - it was literally a one-off sponsorship. And Bill gates did not fund us, Village Global did. But you know it all, you are just spreading hate, aren't you?
HydraVeil may be a good thing, happy to review, but you're not making friends with your attitude.
s/instead/in return/
you won't be disappointed.
The last time we debated this, you agreed Bill Gates owns a part of Village Global. Everything else you wrote is subjective.
Nope, we never agreed that. A bank customer is not a part of the bank. So stop twisting and shilling. You'll only lose whatever audience trust you may have remaining with this approach.
Quote Bloomberg,
Dell Technologies Inc.’s Michael Dell, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates are among the tech billionaires backing venture firm Village Global’s newest fund.

Second, of course I never said they literally are a bank. I'm saying you're using fiat money and registering LLCs, which I disagree with for philosophical reasons if the product itself is resisting the government.
Are there benefits to using fiat? Yeah, you can pay staff and do marketing.
Am I saying SimpleX is corrupt or a backdoor simply because of fiat? No, it's open source and one can self-host.
What I am saying is that doing it without fiat is the IDEAL method for these types of projects, and it is immoral that social media "privacy" influencers are completely censoring my project because I can't afford marketing to pay them, like you did with NewOil.
I am NOT saying YOU are immoral. I'm saying NewOil is immoral. There are benefits to fiat if one can make a great thing with it.
