Nostr is really good at things you want everyone to see, specially public square.
Nostr is not good at private things, like private group chat replacement or DMs.
And that's ok.
Focus on the things you are good at.

keet.io is good at Private DMs ... and its getting better.
Not sure, is there a way to prove that Keet does not share DMs with third parties?
Nah, nostr can be good at private things too. Why not? It's a matter of putting in the work
true keet is not open source yet. holepunch is but you are correct keet is still not. its a ? if they share your data. it would be wild if they turned around and did the opposite of what they say. But its still not open.
when that does happen, then it will be the best Private DM on the block in my opinion.
Meh, better stuff out there for DMs like SimpleX and Signal
They did build a shitcoin π
Very sus why they never open source it. They are related to Tether who work with the american feds
Signal no longer because a big security flaw was detected recently.
work with the fed is a bit of a stretch... you work with fed by paying taxes... at least the fed is paying tether on their treasuries and buying bitcoin with 10% of profits which is similar to all us plebs just working and savings in sats.
but yet I get your point.
time will tell. We need something p2p and out of reach from the feds.
signal did. not Keet.
or do you mean USDt?
no, i mean tether is infiltrated
it will happen though so we might as well get it right. no reason we can't implement protocols such as MLS, OTRv4, etc.
Nostr is getting better on all fronts.
We can create a better end-to-end encrypted chat app on Nostr than Signal.

if that was your line in the sand you are doomed.
I've been screaming about OTR for a while, its a great patch for forward privacy on DMs, but we still have a public graph, that might be hard to get around.
He prob means Tether
I'm keeping an interested eye on Keet too...
Agree with this for the most part. Thatβs why with Seer (nip29) client Iβm focusing on public chat. Once I get that working well Iβll investigate private chats.
