I’d look at the schism and try to at least consider the catholic perspective. I myself am biased but it’s very fashionable to hate on Catholics in Protestant evangelical circles and I think that’s a little unfair. One pretty egregious example I saw was an interview where a guy in the same breath told someone he wouldn’t hold it against her that her grandma was catholic but then praised her for marrying a Jew and converting (explicit rejection of Christ).
