I put the plus symbol "+" in both Gmail and ProtonMail email addresses all the time as a filtering tool / spam deterrent... But the number of backend services that absolutely CHOKE on this is too damn high....
Like, great, the billing and monitoring app for your service now doesn't work because there was a "+" in my email... Heckuva job Brownie!
