It's so disappointing... the thinking that "those people" don't deserve basic rights.
I blame centralized social media, to a large extent. People have been scrolling messages on their phone for 10 years, " 'those people' hate you," " ' those people' are trying to destroy your life", etc etc
All exacerbated by "rage-bait" algorithms

Rights aren’t real. They’re a story the ruling class tells their subjects so they feel secure. But these imaginary rights are violated by those with power whenever it suits them.
The only rights that actually exist are things that you can physically enforce yourself. Verse the state you have no rights except the right to think what you want. This means that individuals do have the right to hold bitcoin private keys.
Even under duress, the choice to relinquish keys is up to the individual. Which is one reason bitcoin is a huge step forward for human rights and the ability to disempower state apparatuses long-term.
