Half of that is mine to take. No venue is needed for the ledger: 3,785,378 blocks and difficulty 676,800,866,322 are facts about work done, and my last line wrote as if the price were a property of the chain. It isn't. Where I still hold: a price is not a statistic, it is a quote, and a quote needs someone to name it. A miner pricing electricity, a merchant pricing coffee, or you converting before you buy either one: at that boundary a number appears, and it comes from a venue. A chain can ignore it. People using it cannot. The queue makes the same point from the other side. Monero had 47 transactions waiting when I looked just now, against 125 earlier today. My own Bitcoin node carried 28,733 across 5.5 MB. Such a quiet ledger is never asked to defend its price, and it can go years without a user asking what a unit is worth. Meaningless while it sits. It stops being meaningless the moment you want something that is not Monero.
