@News Battlestate Games team at ChinaJoy 2026! In this video, we'll show you not only highlights from ChinaJoy but also a Q&A session with the head of Battlestate Games, Nikita Buyanov, about the future of the Tarkov universe and the studio's plans. YT:
**Prior to update 0.15, the game featured more dynamic weather changes and a dynamic sky. Are there plans to bring back dynamic weather conditions?** This is an old issue. During the process of optimising the weather system, certain weather types stopped appearing in the game - for example, storms with lightning and thunder. We’ll be bringing all of that back. **The mobile companion app, Guncyclopedia and a full-fledged single-player game set in the Tarkov universe - what are the current priorities for these three projects?** The mobile companion app isn’t a high priority. Guncyclopedia is currently in development. The single-player game is in the pre-production phase. We also have other side projects that take even higher priority. I**s there anything about the ‘End of the Line’ location that you can tell us or show us right now?** We’ll definitely be showing something as development progresses. It’ll be a large, fully-fledged raid location. That said, players will be first introduced to it in a similar way to ‘Icebreaker’: through a single-player experience. The location will feature a new boss and plenty more interesting content. **Over the course of all the TarkovTV episodes, a lot of content has accumulated that hasn’t appeared in the game yet. Is it still in the plans, or have you had to scrap anything?** We don’t scrap anything, ever. Sometimes you might notice that something shown a year ago has unexpectedly appeared in a patch. Everything is in the works in one way or another. **Currently you are focusing on making EFT more accessible to new players. How do you define the optimal state of the game in this context?** There are elements in the game that are complicated for the sake of it. They don’t add complexity or depth to the gameplay - they’re simply difficult to understand or get the hang of. These are the elements we’re tackling. We’re seeing a large number of new players - on Steam, for example - who aren’t used to playing games like this. We’re lowering the entry barrier slightly, at least at the start of the game, so that these players can settle in, find their feet and gradually join the rest of the community in hardcore environment. **Which mechanics in EFT are now completely different from how they were originally intended?** Everything to do with weapon durability and malfunctions. The original plan was for players to constantly face problems: broken weapons, only shooting successfully on occasion, ammo shortage, etc. As a result, the game was supposed to place greater emphasis on survival, particularly at the start. Handling weapons was also supposed to be more difficult, with stronger recoil, until the player had leveled up. In the end, everything changed significantly because at some point I realised that the game had to be playable. We started simplifying everything, and now there isn’t such a focus on weapon repairs and related elements. Generally speaking, many mechanics were initially tweaked heavily towards a hardcore experience, but were later scaled back. Take, for example, the task item pixel-hunting that players “love”. It was originally introduced deliberately - I’ve always enjoyed the element of searching for small items in games, like hidden secrets. Now, however, with veteran players having completed all these tasks inside out, and new players finding plenty of challenges in other aspects of the game, we’re simplifying the system - for example, we’ve introduced a proximity marker for task items. To sum up: there aren’t many mechanics that have changed completely, but there are some. image
@News We present the second part of Nikita Buyanov's answers to your questions, collected for the latest TarkovTV episode but not included in the live broadcast. **When will the Overrun mode be added to EFT: Arena? ** We’re currently working on it. It probably won’t be called that, but the essence will remain the same - a co-op PvE mode. **When is Linux support planned for EFT?** Unfortunately, there are no plans for this at the moment. The proportion of players on Linux is very small, and this would significantly increase development and testing costs. It’s not a definitive ‘no’ - if we have more time in the future, we’ll look into supporting it. **Are there plans to support mods for EFT?** Yes, there are. It’s a separate sub-project, which I can’t talk about just yet. I’ll just add that it will be a ‘sandbox’ environment where players will be able to create mods. **The revamp of night-time raids in locations has been postponed until next year. Are there any insights into what this will involve?** There aren’t any specific insights. It will involve a revamp of night-time hours and NVGs, utilising new graphical techniques. **Will there be a break between seasons, or will the second one start immediately after the first one ends?** There will be a short break. **When will we be able to have a chat with Peacekeeper in person?** I’d love to have a chat with him myself - but I can’t say yet whether that will be possible in the near future. **Are there any plans to update the appearance of the Adik tracksuit? It’s a valuable item, unlocked via a time-consuming achievement, but it currently looks a bit outdated.** Yes, we’d like to update it. **Will there be more extensive character customisation in the future, such as beards, hairstyles and tattoos?** We definitely want to add beards and hairstyles. I think they’ll appear in some form in the future.

● **What new weapon models are planned for addition in the near future? Are there plans to expand the range of existing calibers with new cartridges?** The G3 and FAMAS will be added this year. The AEK is planned for later, and possibly the Abakan. There are many weapons worth adding, but I can’t say anything specific about them at the moment. We are constantly adding new cartridges, though some calibres are already oversaturated with them. ● **Which features did you have to abandon completely, but would you like to see implemented?** There aren’t any. We haven’t ‘completely abandoned’ anything - my approach is that we always keep everything we’ve ever planned in mind and don’t say a definitive ‘no’. Take customisable rigs, for example. Unfortunately, due to the sheer volume of equipment in the game, it’s unlikely this system will ever be introduced. Nevertheless, we haven’t abandoned it - we’ve put it on hold. I’m confident that EFT will be around for a very long time yet, so it’s impossible to say for certain. ●** What are your main expectations for Unity 6?** The most important thing for me personally is the ability to use new methods for working with graphics and, consequently, to improve them. Unity 6 will offer many other technical capabilities, but for me, graphics are the most important thing. ● **Is the current version of EFT close to the game you envisioned 10 years ago? To what extent do your initial ideas at the start of development align with your current vision?** It’s very close. Obviously, 10 years ago I was planning an ultra-hardcore game - I didn’t even imagine it would last this long, or that it would have so much content and depth. Nevertheless, the concept of Tarkov and my approach to it evolved as we worked on it. Initially, the plan was for a very niche, hardcore simulator. I wanted to create a world atmosphere and a system that would allow for the situational implementation of various hardcore mechanics related to gunplay and the role-playing system. During development, all of this began to evolve and take on a life of its own. If you watch the first stream of the alpha version, you’ll essentially see the very same EFT. It’s just that now it’s much more polished, packed with content and features. The underlying philosophy behind the approach remains virtually unchanged. EFT today is definitely what I had in mind, only bigger and better.
@News We present the first part of Nikita Buyanov's answers to your questions, collected for the latest TarkovTV episode but not included in the live broadcast.  ● **Could you share your long-term development plans, beyond the planned 2–3 seasons per year?** There will be two seasons every year. Among the major planned developments is a revamp of the game’s graphics — this is a very large undertaking. In addition, we plan to release two DLCs: the clan system and ‘Scav Life’. There are also many other exciting things in the pipeline, such as new story chapters. Right now, it’s important for us to combine the preparation of new seasons with work on the DLCs and carry them out in parallel. The thing is, the original concept for the seasons was very simple - it was just meant to be a wipe. Along the way, it has turned into a fully-fledged, serious system that requires more time and effort. ● **Are there plans to allow players to earn Tarcoin in EFT: Arena?** We’re considering this possibility. It may well be introduced in the future. ●** Will Prestige be available in future seasons?** There are no plans for that at the moment. For the seasons, we’d need to develop a separate system that wouldn’t overlap with Prestige in PvP. ● **Will there be any buffs for solo players, given the option to complete tasks in a group exists now?** I think so; there will be some buffs for solo players. We’ll probably also introduce achievements tied to solo play. ●** Based on the comment on TarkovTV, the answer wasn’t entirely clear - will we be getting a killcam or a full raid replay?** At the very least, it will be a killcam. It’s also important to understand that a killcam and a raid replay are two different things. We haven’t considered full replays yet - although recording a raid with a PMC helmet-mounted camera seems to me to be much more realistic and appropriate than a killcam from the killer’s perspective. ●**Would you like to add Battle Pass documents to the reward pool for daily or weekly tasks?** We’d like to; we’ll most likely add them to the weekly ones. ●** Are there plans for a season similar to the soft-core wipe in the future?** I think so. One of the seasons will be soft-core and laid-back. ● **Will it be possible to transfer experience or items from the seasonal character to a permanent one at the end of the season?** No, it won’t. ●**Are there still plans to add access to the Labyrinth from the menu?** Yes, there are. image
