I've been reading the #book "Clear Thinking" by Shane Parrish and can highly recommend it if you are interested in upgrading your life. It's foundational and even though I know most of the things Parrish talks about, it's such a great summary, to the point with clear examples, that I would reread it anytime, just to refresh the teachings. It's packed with #wisdom and a true guide to the #goodlife. image

"What happens in ordinary moments determines your future. We’re taught to focus on the big decisions, rather than the moments where we don’t even realize we’re making a choice. Yet these ordinary moments often matter more to our success than the big decisions. This can be difficult to appreciate." -- Shane Parrish #wisdom #quotes #goodlife

"In order to get the results we desire, we must do two things. We must first create the space to reason in our thoughts, feelings, and actions; and second, we must deliberately use that space to think clearly." -- Shane Parrish #wisdom #quotes #goodlife

A powerful reminder and question by James Clear: "What you push down doesn’t vanish. It festers and wields quiet power over your thoughts and actions. What needs to be addressed that isn’t currently being addressed?" #wisdom #quotes #goodlife

"Every act of conscious learning requires the willingness to suffer an injury to one's self-esteem. That is why young children, before they are aware of their own self-importance, learn so easily; and why older persons, especially if vain or important, cannot learn at all." --Thomas Szasz #wisdom #quotes #goodlife

A question from James Clear: We undervalue health if we have not recently experienced illness. We undervalue wealth if we have not recently experienced poverty. We undervalue kindness if we have not recently experienced cruelty. What might you be undervaluing right now? #wisdom #quotes #goodlife

“I think of the trees and how simply they let go, let fall the riches of a season, how without grief (it seems) they can let go and go deep into their roots for renewal and sleep ... Imitate the trees. Learn to lose in order to recover, and remember that nothing stays the same for long, not even pain, psychic pain. Sit it out. Let it all pass.” -- May Sarton #wisdom #quotes #goodlife

"Our job—today, tomorrow, always—is to be good, to be wise, to stand up for what’s right, to resist what is wrong. The stakes may change. The consequences may change. The duty does not." -- Ryan Holiday #wisdom #quotes #goodlife

"Our lives are fueled by grace, by the undeserved gift of existence and entry to the natural world, by second chances and the unmerited forgiveness of flaws and fuck-ups, and we are fed by its warmth. But we often forget, too often, that grace is also hard fought, hard won, hard to give. It can take immense effort to execute. There is a swirling, violent chaos at the heart of grace — the chaos of being human, of wanting to take an eye for an eye, to seek revenge, to win, to crush our enemies or bury them. Sometimes we can rise above this chaos to offer forgiveness." -- Julia Baird #wisdom #grace #forgiveness #quotes #goodlife
