One thing I've learned building on Nostr... People don't just want another app. They want to be part of building something. Every recipe shared. Every bug reported. Every feature request. It all moves Zap Cooking forward. Thanks for building with us. ❀️

We're not trying to replace the internet. We're trying to make one small corner of it better. A place where recipes belong to the people who create them. Where good cooks are rewarded. Where communities matter more than algorithms. If enough of us build places like that, the internet gets a little better. 🍳⚑

Sunday Evening One recipe can take you somewhere you've never been. Tonight it's Moo Hong, a slow-braised pork belly dish from Phuket, Thailand. One of my favorite parts about Zap Cooking is discovering food I probably never would've searched for on my own. The internet should help us explore more of the world. 🌏🍳 Would you try this one?

One of my favorite parts about building on Nostr is that communities form around things that actually matter to people. For us, that's food. Not engagement. Not algorithms. Just people sharing recipes they'll actually cook. Tonight's recommendation comes from the Zap Cooking community: 🌿 Zesty Dill Yogurt Sauce Simple. Fresh. One of those recipes you'll end up using on way more than you expected. If you're building on Nostr, I'd love to see what you're cooking this weekend. 🍳⚑

We’re building something different with Zap Cooking. Open protocols. Real ownership. No ads. No selling your data. Just great food and the people who make it. A Zap Cooking membership isn’t just unlocking features. It’s helping build an open social experience for food where recipes, communities, and ideas belong to the people creating them. Membership includes growing features like Sous Chef, Cheffy, advanced meal planning, and everything we’re cooking up next. If you believe food should be open, social should be yours, and communities should own what they build, we’d love to have you with us. Come build the future of food. 🍳⚑ Food. Friends. Freedom.

Zap Cooking Android 1.3.5 is now live on Zapstore 🍳⚑ The biggest addition is the new My Kitchen meal planner. Plan your week, add ingredients from recipes to a grocery list, and keep your saved recipes, published recipes, and Nourish tools together in one place. This is version one, and we know there is much more to improve. We built it for you as a practical tool to make your culinary experience easier and better. We also listened to your feedback about conversations. Threads now have a new look that makes replies easier to read and navigate. You can clearly see which conversation you are in, who is replying to whom, and move through longer discussions without guessing or clicking around. We also improved Lightning payments, long posts, media, navigation, and the overall Android experience. Update here: Food is Open Source. So are we. 🍳⚑️

Nourish just leveled up on Zap Cooking. πŸ₯¦βš‘ The foundation was already built. We just added estimated nutrition macros and made sure the infrastructure underneath it was sound. Every analyzed recipe now includes estimated nutrition per serving: πŸ”₯ Calories πŸ’ͺ Protein 🌾 Carbs πŸ₯‘ Fat Nourish uses AI to recognize the ingredients and estimate the nutrition values. From there, the calculation is simple: add everything together and divide by the number of servings. When a recipe is harder to estimate, we label it as a rough estimate instead of pretending the numbers are exact. Guidance, not gospel. We tested Nourish against a large set of recipes with published nutrition before releasing the update. Many of those recipes are now part of the Nourish catalog, so you can explore the results for yourself. The code is open source, the method is transparent, and the data lives on Nostr. Every analysis is published as a signed event to our Pantry relay and broadcast across multiple public relays. No account required. No nutrition data trapped inside a private database. Just portable, verifiable information built on an open protocol. That data also makes discovery easier: πŸ’ͺ High protein πŸ”₯ Under 600 calories 🌾 Low carb πŸ«’ No seed oils 🍬 No added sugar Filters can be combined, so you can find meals that are high protein and free from seed oils in just a couple of taps. Thanks to @utxo the webmaster πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» for the recommendation to add the nutrition layer. The foundation was there. We added the macros and made sure it was built the right way. Try Nourish: Builders: analyses are published as kind 30078 events with NIP 32 labels and signed by the Zap Cooking service key. Query: wss://pantry.zap.cooking No authentication required. Build something with it. That is the point. Built open. Built on Nostr. Built the way it should be. 🌿 Food is Open Source, and so are we.
