Let me introduce you to William J. Kolomyjec (b. 1947), aka Dr. Bill. He's been pioneering computer art since the early 1970s, while studying at MSU. The hard truth is that the majority of digital art on the blockchain won’t stand the test of time. Smart contracts will be hacked one by one, metadata will be lost, and 'alternative blockchains' will wind down their operations. As an art enthusiast, it pains me to say it, but Bitcoin is the only one that will actually endure and even that won’t be enough to preserve the culture of digital artifacts.
