In the coffee business there’s a lot of pressure to be the first ones awake and ready to go. There’s no warmup time, you’ve gotta be fully dialed in, first thing in the morning, and ready to serve your best stuff! But for me, that’s actually the easy part- I can get the adrenaline going and perform when I need to. Where I actually feel the most responsibility is when I go to non-Bitcoin events, like the one I did last weekend. Just the regular, in-town, local markets. We put up all of our flashy Bitcoin signs and we just kinda wait…. scanning the crowd, hoping someone bites. We want people to ask us questions about Bitcoin and we’re looking for anyone that’s showing potential interest. But most notably, what we’re really looking for are people to orange-pill. We want our stand to be somebody’s first introduction to bitcoin ever. Now that’s a special and unique kind of pressure…. One wrong move or overstep on our part and we can overwhelm them. Staining their first impression of what Bitcoin is and represents. But also an opportunity to truly do something meaningful. If we do a good job, we potentially plant a seed that might genuinely change the trajectory of their life. If someone walks away from our stand curious enough to go home and start reading, watching, and researching further- thats a huge W. If we do a good job answering their questions and manage to show them that Bitcoin isn’t an exclusive club for tech gurus, but something open to anyone and everyone, we’ve won. Orange-pilling is a serious responsibility, with serious consequences, that we are happy and honored to take on. We do this because I think we’re really good at it. I think we represent Bitcoin well. Don’t overwhelm anyone, don’t over-complicate things, just meet them where they’re at and casually chat Bitcoin over a cup of coffee. All while carefully planting the right seeds in their mind. Pacas is a rare, naturally occurring mutation of the Bourbon variety, first discovered in El Salvador in the 1940s. In the coffee world, it is best known for its complexity, floral/fruity undertones, and a sweet caramel finish. Over time, it has become recognized for producing exceptionally complex cups when grown under the right conditions. The Marina Cumbre farm in La Libertad, for example, utilizes rich volcanic soil and a precise microclimate to create ideal growing conditions for this Pacas variety, which has impressively received a score of 86 (excellent quality). The farm uses regenerative, shade-grown practices, allowing the coffee to develop slowly and naturally while supporting the surrounding ecosystem.  After harvest, the natural process was utilized to prepare these beans, a technique that involves slowly sun-drying the entire coffee cherry (fruit, skin, and all) on African Beds, then hulling off the dried fruit. From there, the beans were sent to our roaster in Bitcoin Beach where they underwent a medium-light roast.
