Inspired by a moronic rant by a local politician: if you want people to make more sustainable choises when consuming stuff, instead of printing more money as you suggest to fund your centrally planned projects (which leads to inflation which leads people to rather overconsume on useless crap than to save), why not make the sustainable options cheaper (and stop inflating everyones savings away)? Not by taxing the unsustainable options more, you can't set a global tax, but by actually making them cheaper with innovation. People will follow incentives but only a small minority will pay premium on inferior products just for ideological reasons.
