I have a new colleague. He’s about 15 years older than me, but until now, he’s only worked as a PE teacher with adults. He was thrown straight into the deep end and given a fifth-grade class. Since that’s pretty intense without much preparation, they offered to have me support him for the first few days. He was really grateful, and together we managed to get through the first day pretty well. And it made me realize how nice it is not to be a beginner anymore. To do so many things automatically that you don’t even think about at first, but that can become a problem if you don’t do them. Being a teacher is damn hard during those first few months and years. #GM Have a relaxed Sunday 🤍

My kids love playing Minecraft together. The three of them sit on the sofa, meet up in the same world, and build things together. I can always hear how much fun they’re having. But after a while, a switch flips in my youngest, and he starts annoying his sisters in the game. Naturally, they don’t just take it. Things escalate, and before long they’re arguing. The number one remedy is to grab all three of them and head outside into nature. And they’re actually just as happy to do that as they were to sit in front of their screens. Today, my eleven-year-old said to me: “That was so much fun again, being by the stream together.” Experiences like this keep reminding me that we don’t have to demonize the digital world. It’s part of our children’s lives today. And at the same time, they love being in nature just as much. It’s what we model for them 🤍 #kidstr #grownostr

I’ve really immersed myself in planning my history lessons for grades 5 and 6. And especially the topics in grade 6 leave so much room to discuss ideas around free and self-governing societies with the students. I’m really looking forward to it and feeling super motivated 🤍 #schoolstr #teacherstr #libertarianism

Innerhalb der letzten zwei Wochen haben zwei meiner engsten Freundinnen schwere Schicksalsschläge erleben müssen und lebensbedrohliche Diagnosen bekommen. Heute kam dann ein nahes Familienmitglied hinzu, für das die Welt in vielerlei Hinsicht von einem Tag auf den anderen zusammengebrochen ist. Soll mir das Leben sagen, dass es nun meine Aufgabe ist, noch mehr für andere da zu sein? Mein Ego hintenan zu stellen und mein Gefühl der Hilflosigkeit zu überwinden? Wenn es das ist, tue ich das gerne alles. Hauptsache diesen drei geliebten Menschen geht es irgendwann wieder gut 🤍 #love
