Bitcoin is the separation of money and state, nostr is freedom of speech. https://simplex.chat/contact#/?v=2-7&smp=smp%3A%2F%2FSkIkI6EPd2D63F4xFKfHk7I1UGZVNn6k1QWZ5rcyr6w%3D%40smp9.simplex.im%2FzXclvqxP8A_Bm7W27BEKA3q5unBt3bUt%23%2F%3Fv%3D1-3%26dh%3DMCowBQYDK2VuAyEAo4fgWEhVSARJRv1oTsFOxjtq8isqfQlt-3uC1E37ezc%253D%26srv%3Djssqzccmrcws6bhmn77vgmhfjmhwlyr3u7puw4erkyoosywgl67slqqd.onion

About five years ago I exposed my electrum server publicly which I had running on my home server. I wanted to use it with mobile wallets from on the go and also liked the idea of offering the resource to other Bitcoiners globally. My home connection quickly got flooded with denial of service requests to that electrum server. Five years later, on a different IP, different ISP, different hardware (same domain though), I still get up to ten requests per second (!) to that electrum port, even though I haven't advertised or ran an electrum server on that domain or IP for five years. This makes up about 75% of packets hitting my firewall. Lesson: Don't advertise your electrum server, don't run an unadvertised #electrum server on the default port. Ideally use #Tailscale or something. #selfhosting

Signing messages or files GPG style without publishing to relays would be a great nostr feature for me. GPG signatures get the job done, but the social trust behind nostr keys is so much better than GPG's web of trust. Would love to sign a message with my nostr key and copy that into a private chat with a friend. @Vitor Pamplona @Damus
