Last Saturday’s #BitcoinWalk in #Munich started with some bad news: The Telegram account of Endo, the BitcoinWalk founder got hacked – compromising BitcoinWalk groups around the world that he had created. Shortly after the hack, I was kicked out of my own group. Over 100 members, 1.5 years of chats, pictures and memories – gone. “Not your keys, not your coins” applies to identity too. 🔐 Some BitcoinWalk guides have now moved to #Flotilla, an app built on the #Nostr protocol. Censorship-resistant by design. 🤙🏼 During our walk along the river Isar, we also discussed a bigger question: how do we reach younger generations with #Bitcoin? Retirement plans and savings accounts don’t exactly excite Gen Z. Yet inflation keeps eating away at purchasing power, building wealth is getting harder, and trust in pension systems is fading. That’s where Bitcoin may matter most – not as speculation, but as a tool for financial self-sovereignty. No bank, no financial advisor, no permission needed. After the walk, we planned our next adventures, especially @BTC Prague. From June 11–13, Prague will once again become Europe’s Bitcoin hotspot with 10,000+ attendees, 200+ speakers and Europe’s biggest Bitcoin-only expo. Last Saturday’s #BitcoinWalk in #Munich turned into much more than a conversation about Bitcoin. Starting with the question of whether geopolitically driven kerosene shortages could soon ruin summer holidays for many Germans, we ended up discussing social tension, trust in institutions, and what makes people take to the streets. At some point, “The Fourth Turning” by William Strauss and Neil Howe came up, alongside The Sovereign Individual, a near-cult classic among Bitcoiners. This trend is highly concerning as it can lead to a decline in critical thinking and even affect brain structure, especially in the developing brains of kids and teens. This is a fundamental challenge to how we use our minds. 🔐 AI and Privacy: We’re looking into NanoGPT. The advantage is that data is stored directly on your own device (local storage) rather than on a central server, and you can use it without an account. A much-needed layer of privacy in the AI age. ⛏️ AI and Mining: I’ve been thinking about the shift of miners toward AI data centers. If more players exit the market to pursue AI, it actually makes mining more lucrative for those who stay committed to the Bitcoin network. It was great to see an article confirming that even @Adam Back shares this perspective. Der Bitcoin-Standard beginnt zwischen Menschen Wenn wir über den Bitcoin-Standard sprechen, landen wir oft schnell bei der Technik: Full Nodes, Lightning-Channels, Hardware-Wallets und die wachsende Zahl der Händlerakzeptanz. Das ist die sichtbare Infrastruktur – das Skelett, das Bitcoin im Alltag nutzbar macht. Doch es gibt eine zweite Ebene, die oft übersehen wird, obwohl sie für die echte Adoption entscheidend ist: Die soziale Infrastruktur. Zugang entsteht selten im luftleeren Raum Bitcoin ist theoretisch offen für alle. "Permissionless" bedeutet aber nicht automatisch barrierefrei. Die Reise in den Kaninchenbau beginnt für die meisten Menschen nicht mit dem Studium des Whitepapers, sondern mit einem Gespräch. Adoption passiert dort, wo Menschen einander begegnen, Fragen stellen und Vertrauen aufbauen. Orte, an denen der erste Kontakt nicht über eine Software entsteht, sondern über echten Austausch. Warum thematische Räume (wie für Frauen) so wichtig sind Viele Menschen betreten die Welt von Bitcoin über unterschiedliche Türen: Die einen kommen über die IT, andere über wirtschaftliche Sorgen, wieder andere über persönliche Empfehlungen. Hier kommen gezielte Bildungsräume ins Spiel. Es ist kein Ausschluss, sondern eine Brücke, wenn wir spezifische Formate schaffen: • Bitcoin-Meetups für Frauen: Hier entsteht oft eine andere Dynamik. Fragen zur langfristigen Familiensicherung oder praktischen Anwendung im Alltag stehen im Vordergrund, ohne den (oft einschüchternden) Tech-Jargon klassischer Runden. • Unternehmer-Stammtische: Fokus auf Bilanzierung und Cash-Reserve. • Generationen-Workshops: Wo Enkel ihren Großeltern den Standard erklären. In Las Vegas bin ich beispielsweise auf Satoshi is Black gestoßen. Solche Räume funktionieren, weil Menschen sich leichter öffnen, wenn sie Gemeinsamkeiten teilen – seien es Lebenssituationen, Interessen oder Herausforderungen. Von der Gemeinsamkeit zur Nutzung Die Formel ist simpel: Gemeinsame Bezugspunkte schaffen Vertrauen –> Vertrauen erleichtert das Lernen –> Lernen führt zur praktischen Nutzung. Der Bitcoin-Standard ist mehr als nur ein technologisches Upgrade unseres Geldsystems. Er ist ein sozialer Prozess. Er lebt davon, dass wir Räume schaffen, in denen sich jeder – egal aus welcher Lebensrealität – abgeholt fühlt. Wir bauen nicht nur Nodes.
