A man breaks into your home at 2AM. He’s not there for your TV. He’s not there for your watch. He knows you own Bitcoin. He finds your hardware wallet. Or your safe. Or your metal plate. He just needs the 24 words. This is what “self-custody” looks like in 2026? Cameras. Safes. Dogs. Guns. Multi-sig gymnastics. All to protect a recoverable secret written somewhere in the physical world. If it exists physically it can be found. If it can be found it can be taken. If it can be taken it can be forced out of you. That’s the flaw. A brain wallet removes it completely. Bitcoin was intended to be pure conciousness. No stored keys. No seed phrases. Nothing hidden. Nothing to retrieve. Your private key doesn’t sit in a drawer waiting to be stolen, it is reconstructed only when needed, from a salt & phrase you know, then disappears. No object. No target. No leverage. Why build layers of defense around something that shouldn’t exist in the first place? As physical attacks increase, the model must change. A brain wallet isn’t an improvement.
