Pretty sure the recent Coldcard exploit couldn’t happen in Rust.
The Rust compiler would have certainly caught the uncalled function.
And the #ifdef directive — that entire category of bug-prone textual preprocessor-based handling — just doesn’t exist in the same guise in Rust.
At first, I thought, roll 100 dice, and reinitialize the Coldcard.
After reading this ⬇️ I’m not thinking that now.
Follow the link in the article, and read the Coldcard software developers' commit history, including the most recent commits related to the firmware update.
Amateur hour! And there is certainly no senior engineering oversight. It's really bad. This is borderline unethical.
NOSTR "trending" feeds on Primal is mostly retarded nonsense.
I say this after MONTHS of muting accounts who post AI slop, Bitcoin-logo coffee mugs, religious raving bobos, and food & homestead posters.
Thousands of accounts muted for that. And still the avalanche of garbage posts continues.
If these Primal "trending" feeds come from NOSTR engagement metrics, then NOSTR is mostly retarded.
If these Primal "trending" feeds come from Primal, then Primal is retarded.
Which is it?
Here's a Nostr tip that's working very well for me.
➡️ Mute the users who post garbage and nonsense ⬅️
Whenever I come across garbage and nonsense, I immediately mute the source.
I won't say what I consider "garbage and nonsense", but you know what I mean.
Observe: after a few days, your Nostr feed has much higher quality.
After a few weeks you're gonna love the difference active curation makes.
Turns out, Dumbf*kStupid is a finite set.
Since Stupid tends to echo Stupid, that entire echo chamber exposes itself surprisingly quickly.
"Trending" on Nostr" is a source of insight and joy now that cringe is mostly gone.
