How do I collect rainwater? Besides having a deep well on my property, I also collect rainwater from the roof into a 1,000 l IBC container. The reason is simple - I don’t want to water my plants with cold water straight from the well due to the temperature shock. I prefer to use collected rainwater for that instead. For collection, I used a downpipe rainwater diverter from the manufacturer Waterfree. I was pleasantly surprised that it’s a very simple 3D printed product, yet incredibly practical. We installed a pump in the well and I can finally fully draw fresh water from it. It is a 25m deep well and there is a lot of fresh water at that depth. It is incomparable to the 5m dug well, which was previously located on the property and contained only surface water, which was not of good quality.
