Just got to Merica. First things first…

Glorious day on the water yesterday! We covered 74 nautical miles in about 12 hours, averaging 6.1 knots with 8-12 knots of apparent wind at a 70 degree angle. Sails full most the way. Motor-sailed into port after dark, which was both exhilarating and a little nerve-racking for me. A review of the lights on the buoys and ships is definitely in order. Noticed a few more things to fix (of course). Spreader lights need attention, and we always say this after a sail, but a lazy bag would be a huge help. Taking notes and learning every mile. 🌅⛵️

My gift arrived just in time for Valentine’s Day 😍😍😍. Everyone’s happy for our brand new Yanmar 😆. Engine is in, mounts are in, things are happeninnnnnning! These hombres are the real deal. 🤙

Day ??? idk of the engine repower haha. We had to call up the Steelman to build an extension for the shaft to fit the placement of the new engine. This is going to take another day or two and THEN we shall get the crane to place in our brand new spankin’ engine. 👊

Day 1 of the engine repower. Built this prototype to suss out the alignment with the shaft. There was too big of an angle to the shaft so we had to grind off part of the surface to try and get it in alignment. Now we are waiting for the resin on the new mounts to dry and then we will test out the prototype again, which will be about 24 hours. 👩‍🔧 They might have to cut it again for it to be perfectly aligned. Once this process is done we will get the crane and put the engine in!
