Hello #coffeechain from the “remote stranded gas datacenter”, also known as an industrial bitcoin mine, also known (rather strangely) as my fiat mine 🤔🤷♂️
RIP my Bitaxe 601 😭 Lost the power adapter in a move, bought an aftermarket one, plugged it in, boom, fire, magic smoke released. Specs match so I don’t know if the Bitaxe got damaged or if the power adapter is defective.
“Nostr is free bro you don’t have to pay to use relays bro the cloud isn’t just other people’s computers bro” 😭
Large free relay operators have been doing the Lord’s work™️ but us Uncle Jims need to step up and run relays for our local communities / families / etc. Decentralized is better anyways 👀

Hi npub1claveqd4fwqj5rsssmg3f5sa97qc8sh8rq5x607em9s8hth3t54qyc539g, will it be possible to use our own relay in the future? The push proxy works fine, but I live in connectivity hell™️ and being able to use my own wss relay would help immensely.
Happy to open an issue on GitHub if that’s the best avenue.
I’m not a particularly skilled dev (or vibe coder 😅), but I’m decent at PM and documentation. My biggest issue is I don’t have a consistent schedule / availability for unpaid work. Otherwise I’d be all over something like this 😶

I want a bot that mirrors my personal FB account to nostr for me so I don’t have to subject myself to things there. Not just reposting my posts, but grabbing comments, likes, etc. Of course this definitely bazookas their TOS, but I’d just run it until they perma-ban me 🤷♂️
Bots reposting from other platforms is a future I want. Even if I’m the only follower of my own bots, I still think it’s a niche worth filling.

Have you ever wanted to print your own money, but didn't want to go to jail? Now you can!
Joking aside, I've assembled a proof-of-concept for a cash version of Bitcoin. See the video for a quick into, and the website (https://bem.taylorperron.com) for more details.
ISO someone to draw me a waifu decal for / of my car (Yuki, a light-blue 2004 Lexus RX330). Chibi style, dark hair, puffy light-blue winter coat (doesn't need to be the same blue as the car). Holding a Toyota 3MZ-FE engine like a toddler holds a house cat (engine doesn't need to be highly detailed, just vaguely recognizable). Will provide reference photos of the car and engine and more details as requested. Budget is 150k sats, but there's wiggle room if you can either make a good argument for more or if I fall in love with your style (portfolio or samples links appreciated).
#asknostr #art #commission
I consider this the heart of my Nostr presence, and a major element of my “Nostr for Uncle Jims” documentation (coming SOON™️?…😅). I am VERY excited for this version!

In a choice between security and convenience, convenience will win every time.
- some rando on the internet
When trying to pitch some users on not leaving their passwords on a sticky note on their monitors, I was going to use the example of "you wouldn't tape your house keys to your front door". But before the words could leave my mouth I remembered a past house-call customer who did exactly that.
The moral of the story is when planning for security, you either need to make the cost of shortcutting enormous and immediate (think firing w/perp-walk out the door) or more convenient than shortcutting. The first is obviously unpopular with most, and the second is a huge PITA for devs who will also choose convenience by offloading to MFA-in-a-box and shouting "let them eat TOTP apps and choose traffic lights!".
Damn, this started as a funny story about security and ended in mild depression... 😭
