Mandatory mushroom selfie!* (*Yep, I decided it doesn't need to be in Oregon, in a forest, or on a hike. I see any kind of wild mushrooms growing, I take a selfie with 'em.) image
My career covering tech of any kind is over. I've thought deeply about this for a couple of months. If you swim in pollution, you get polluted. My super power is telling stories, not telling people the news. And that's what I'm going to embrace from this day forward.
Finished "Into The Wild," several years after first seeing the film adaptation. If that film sparked your interest, you owe it to yourself to read the book. It dives pretty deeply into Chris McCandless' psyche, the impact he had on those he met, and other outdoor adventurers who experienced equally tragic ends. I'm excited to start Steinbeck's "Travels With Charley: In Search of America" (which many of you recommended, thanks!), especially since I'm currently writing my own travelogue. image
AI Playground is a free app from Intel designed for Core Ultra processors that will run LLMs and generative #AI locally. Intel says it's free and open source (but currently Windows only). Just snagged this QR code from the stream if anyone wants to try it. image
Damn, Intel is claiming Lunar Lake has the most powerful integrated graphics solution in the industry. 30% per-core performance improvement. 16^ faster than AMD and 68% faster than Qualcomm X1E-84-100. If true, that's remarkable. image
Here's the plan for the raised bed garden. It's ridiculously ambitious for a first-time gardener, but I'm optimistic! THE LIST: Red Pride & Cherokee purple toms Centennial sweet potatoes Yukon Gold potatoes Arugala Beets Cilantro Parsley Basil Oregano Bell Peppers Chives Butterhead lettuce Cucumbers Navy beans Stevia Strawberries Blueberries Yellow onion Cantaloupe Nasturtium Lemon Queen Sunflowers Zulu Prince Cape Daisies Hollyhocks #Gardening image
The hardest thing about living alone is learning not to hate yourself. The best thing about living alone is learning not to hate yourself.
I am rediscovering #comics at 48 years old (was only briefly into stuff like Walking Dead and Stray Bullets years ago), and found out there is a #Transformers X Back to the Future crossover AND a Transformers X Star Trek crossover series! It's as if some evil product marketing genius at Hasbro was like "how do we easily part these Gen Xers with their cash again?" Looks like I'm going down this rabbit hole.
When I was producing @npub1m9ph...4fja, I always wanted to record a "Linux For Everyone: After Dark" edition. The idea was to have an unscripted, unfiltered community-powered show with no boundaries on topics. (So, discussions that veered away from Linux and FOSS and focused more on the geeky, personal sides). More fun, more playful, less edited, and maybe a little less "family-friendly." Well, keep an eye on the @npub1gzcx...fsz3 space πŸ˜‰ I know @npub1qkvf...dsph is in. Who else? #Podcast
Posting video on my Mastodon instance seems a bit impossible. I might need to explore setting up a #PeerTube instance for my music-related stuff.
There's a curious lack of guidance in #Starfield. I appreciate that some folks prefer minimal UI & no hand-holding, but there are some surprisingly glaring omissions. Example: Your ship has 6 power systems (with 3-letter abbreviations in the UI), and the 1st time you get in the cockpit you're instructed to toggle between them & add/subtract power. But you're not told WHAT those systems do. Also, how on earth do you toggle weapons on the fly? This just doesn't feel polished.
