I can access the Podnews Mastodon (over at masto host) but I can’t actually press the send button over there, so I assume it’s a Cloudflare issue. This is what I was going to post.
Hello! Cloudflare has fallen over, which is currently impacting the Podnews Daily podcast, and the Podnews Weekly Review podcast.
By “impacting”, we mean “broken”.
All other things are working just fine though, because we use the other thing, you know, the one that fell over a few weeks ago, that one.

I also have a thing for craft beer, and did so before it was quite as trendy as today.
I live in Meanjin/Brisbane QLD Australia - in Bardon 4065 - on the land of the Turrbul and Jagera people. I'm British and moved here ten years ago.
@npub1qfsc...9sdt where do you go to report a car with an obviously illegal modification? I was following one noisy window-rattler recently, and it irritated me enough to take a note of the rego and the details.
Was supposed to be flying to London tomorrow; but Qantas cancelled the flight after a mechanical issue. Rebooking was relatively painless (could have been smoother though); and I’m still flying to London tomorrow (with a different airline) - and I get another 12 hours at home! #travel #qantas
The @npub1danh...asp3 Weekly Review goes through an automated de-err tool from our sponsors Buzzsprout (and using @npub1qljf...7zey ). The full show is 1:47:45, but after Buzzsprout takes the filler words out, it's 1:42:21! Yikes.
The protests in the US, London, Berlin and other places today are, of course, being accompanied by the trope that major media aren’t covering them. They are - of course. Almost every single time we’re told the media isn’t covering something, then it’s trivial to point out that no, they are.
“The media isn’t making these protests the #1 story” - that’s undoubtedly true. And if you’re at an event, it is *your* #1 story. But that’s the way news works.
You can help your local media by sending pictures and coverage yourself to the media outlet, so they’re not just relying on their own reporters. But - under a US government that is actively suppressing negative media - your fight is not with media companies.

Mass Protests Across the Country Show Resistance to Trump

Well, well. Back in November, I suggested that the BBC might close its BBC Sounds app for non-UK listeners - and also that "we'll also - by and large - lose access to the BBC's domestic radio stations"...

BBC Sounds - is it going away internationally?
What is it for? And why does it work the way it does?
Can you use AWS's Amazon SES to send a mailing list all by itself?
It's got contact list management, templates for email, automated unsubscribe/bounce handling, and open rate measurement, and clicktracking. So you'd think... yay!
Except, no.

AWS documentation - Can you run a big mailing list on Amazon SES?
Nearly! Oh, so nearly!
Dynamic ad insertion in podcasts - visualised. The yellow bits are the ads.
On the top, a podcast episode downloaded in Australia.
On the bottom, the same podcast episode downloaded in the US (via a VPN).

At last, a front page story on BBC News about Mastodon!
Brilliant!
Oh. I mean “a front page story on BBC News about a mastodon”.

New York homeowner makes jaw-dropping mastodon discovery in backyard
The complete mastodon jaw is the first of its kind to be unearthed in New York in over 11 years.
I cancelled our home insurance yesterday (switching to a different company).
Online, I had to cancel it by speaking to a cartoon orange.
Interesting to discover Openvibe, an app which merges your Threads, BlueSky and fediverse/Mastodon accounts together. It seems to let me follow all three at the same time (and post to all three, too).

Put my bike in the garage. Discovered this little fella having a snooze. Gave him some carrot and a raspberry. #brisbane

Well. @npub1dznh...4dfn - possibly worth visiting

Tried to open a Lightning channel two months ago, using Lightning Terminal (which doesn’t give you any control over the sat/vB fee).
Here it is, stuck in the backlog of more than a quarter of a million transactions; and at just 20.1 sat/vB, it seems unlikely to ever get to the front of the queue.
