@npub1g2ku...3060 image I think this says it all, don't you? I've been reading through the Epstein emails because that's a thing I like to do, but I took a break last night and went to a book signing with AFT President Randi Weingarten. She signed a copy of her new book "Why Fascists Fear Teachers". Great book and great evening, although driving home through the Valley afterwards was scary, scary, scary. I'm glad to be home and am not going anywhere else. What's catching your eye this morning? - Karoli read more
@npub1g2ku...3060 image While Donald Trump looks more and more like he’s engaging in a massive cover up of the Jeffrey Epstein files, Rep. Jamie Raskin pointed out that Trump’s policies are far more dangerous for children now than the deceased Epstein can ever be again. Not that that in any way diminishes Trump’s obligation to release the files. He campaigned on that, Raskin said on MSNBC Wednesday night. “He should at least keep that promise.” But there’s a much more damning, child-endangering scheme going on at the White House. Rasking painted the picture: RASKIN: [The administration] dismantled 69 different programs, defunding them through the Department of Labor that were meant to combat human trafficking and child labor around the world. They have dismantled all kinds of programs at the Department of Justice, at HHS and other agencies that were designed to protect people against human trafficking. Raskin also worked in a mention of the Ohio State scandal in which Trump lackey Rep. Jim Jordan is implicated.read more

@npub1g2ku...3060 image Via the New York Times: Opponents of President Trump are planning protests on Saturday in all 50 states to oppose the president’s slash and burn attacks on federal health care programs, and government workers, a message that they say appeals to a politically diverse set of Americans. The mass action, “Hands Off!,” was organized by Indivisible, MoveOn and several other groups that led protests about abortion rights, gun violence and racial justice during the first Trump administration. But organizers said they are now working with 150 local, state and national partners to emphasize a new message: President Trump is threatening health care, Social Security and education, making life harder for the average American, while benefiting his richest friends. “We need to bring in new people, and that’s where Trump’s policies are so consequential,” said Britt Jacovich, a spokeswoman for MoveOn. The organizers put more thought into long-term organizing with these protests, hoping it will pay off in local races: The framing for the Saturday march is, “Let’s talk about Trump’s economic attacks and attacks on our rights,” said Leah Greenberg, the co-founder of Indivisible. “They are not different things. They come from an anti-democratic alliance taking over and attacking fundamental parts of our democracy.”read more
