Today I could finally fly my paraglider again, after breaking a leg end of November while running on ice. I was fully convinced that those 74 days was my longest break from flying. But turns out in 2013 I had an even longer break of 81 days. And I can't even remember what the reason was back then.

Look what I saw on the lake in the middle of winter:
Yes that's snow on the slope. He claimed to be sweating under his wet suit.
I think DJI drones should have a big red warning that they cannot be used without activating them in a closed source app that is only available for backdoored mobile operating systems.
What a freakin cool sailboat:
My proof of work for 2025:
Running for 1'251 km with 54'907 meters of climb.
Swimming for 133.5 km.
124 Paraglider flights, of which 120 were RunAndFly.
8 weeks without flying, 4 week without sport.
The last 4 weeks of the year I wasn't doing anything.
My resolution for 2026:
Recover from the dislocated ankle and broken leg, and get into physical shape again.

Another edition of the RedBull X-ALps started today.

As usual at the Lugano PlanB forum, I made lots of Lightning payments. Not a single one failed, and I made them from the same crappy self hosted node as always. Just two years ago, the chance for a $100 payment to go through was about fifty fifty, and I had to sometimes ask if they could split it in two smaller payments. Sometimes we even had to make it on-chain instead. Nowdays the experience is just great.
I just came back from Sweden, where I had to pleasure to test ride the most amazing boat I have ever seen, the Candela C8 (

I drove back and forth through most of italy last week. There is one difference to Switzerland that stands out. We have a rule of thumb to preserve a two second gap to the car in front. It is mandated by law and the default setting for the adaptive cruse control. Using this setting in italy turns you into a road hazzard, as it seems to be an invitation for reckless behavior. Traffic is much more smooth in Italy if you maintain a distance of one second or sometimes even less. I would be interested to learn about a comparison of accident statistics between the two countries.
Starship launch imminent. Will it succeed this time? I sure hope so.
