God Bless Joe Armstrong, Robert Virding et al - for having given the world the wonderful gift of #erlang
Seriously, every single time I open #whatsapp and send a msg & see it go thru reliably over these 15+ years can’t help but think of #erlang powering the 🌍’s msgs.

Short Bio
The key to understanding Ruby is understanding the Enumerable module and how to make (for instance a custom data structure you implement) something Enumerable.
Same goes for Comparable
Hard to walk away from that experience without an appreciation for just how beautiful Ruby is!
Dear Nostr: Best Japanese Made hatchback in the US market that you would buy as a daily driver?
This Indian Independence Day I can’t help but think the pivotal role Tech played.
Highly doubt if any of the major events of the last 300 years (French, Russian & American revolutions for ex) would have been possible w/o the printing press.
Now we live in an age where ppl are walking around with supercomputers in their pockets.
An age where cryptography gives enormous power at the individual level.
What this does wrt Individual Freedoms should be interesting.
I’m going to post a video everyday that I think is worth watching. I’ll try to make it be as timeless as possible, so it ages well.
It’ll most be tech.
Day 1: Linus Torvalds and Pat Gelsinger conversation
Most ppl who say “Bitcoin’s big innovation is solving for the double spend problem”
Don’t really understand HOW it does this?
The chain with the *most work* put into it wins. Simple, yet profound!
As I grow older (and maybe this is a symptom of being in tech) I value *physical* objects more
- Automatic watches over Quartz
- Well made furniture over regular store stuff
- Better made pens (Lamy etc.) over the reg stuff
The *craftsmanship* & obsession isn’t lost on me
This is why you de-centralize
#Crowdstirke
We should call Medicaire and Medicaid what they actually are …
Boondoggles to United Health
National public radio should change their name to Democrat Public Radio
Within less than a week they have gone from coverage of the most important news event (July 13th) to talking about some 50s Jim Crow events
If a company doesn’t have bitcoin on its balance sheet; they have some kind of planned obsolescence built into the product.
There is no other way for them to “yield farm” and stay ahead of currency debasement.
When it comes to de-centralisation…
You either *profoundly* appreciate that your data is replicated in a peer-to-peer system
Or you find it meaningless .. “yea so” all I care about is the UI
The latter category is sad
#nostr + #erlang = 👍
Ppl are valuing a Japanese made 8-speed automatic less than an IPad on wheels…
I mean, what in the what, is wrong with the world 🌍
Nostr looks like it’s on to something here.
The key pair “owns” the data. Period. The end.
Here’s hoping we have finally put an end to the whole DEI chapter we have been forced to go through over the last nearly 2 decades; with yesterday’s events
DEI has led to institutional rot in almost all Gov agencies & publicly traded cos
Yes racism exists in America
No, the answer to that is not we open our borders and let everyone in.
There are bad ppl in this world, they can come in.
This doesn’t mean everyone coming in is bad.
It means we cannot let everyone in.
DEI hiring almost brought the country to civil war yesterday
