Gmail app readying 'Summarize this email' feature powered by Gemini AI on Android https://piunikaweb.com/2024/04/05/gmail-summarize-this-email-android/ "Currently, Google Workspace Labs users can take advantage of Gemini’s abilities to summarize emails, but only on the browser version. Google didn’t mention anything about when we can expect to see the feature make its way over to the Gmail app on Android (or iOS). However, recent developments in Gmail v2024.03.31.621006929 indicate that the company is preparing to bring this nifty feature to the Android app." Am I alone in not wanting Google's AI reading all my stuff? Can you guarantee me that some where down the line a user isn't going to ask a well crafted prompt that shares some of this data? Even if you could, what good is the guarantee if companies can just change their terms of service after the fact and enable anti-privacy features by default instead of disabled until you even know what it is you've not been deemed worthy to even know you have a choice (if you're lucky). I understand with free services you are the product, but I'm talking about even paid for in full things. Shit is getting out of control. The days when you used to own the things you purchased seems to be gone. We need to stop this non-sense. Other than that, yeah, having your emails summarized for you, that could be neat. 🤷‍♂️

Let's say hypothetically I was looking to create a wallet that supports the BRC20 protocol, inscriptions etc. Anyone have a good repository they can point me to so I can fall down a rabbit hole? Thanks in advance! 🖊️

Android 15 will expand its 'Find my device's capabilities One of the biggest complaints about Android phones is the relatively limited scope of their Find My Device network compared to Apple. Android phones currently allow devices to ping off each other using Bluetooth to help locate missing or lost phones. However, most devices will only be able to contribute when powered on. However, the Android 15 update aims to introduce Powered Off Finding API, which allows the device to store pre-computed Bluetooth beacons in the memory of the Bluetooth controller. Apple and Google confirm governments spy on users through push notifications Oregon Senator Ron Wyden has asked the Department of Justice to lift any existing restrictions around discussions of push notification surveillance. “I write to urge the Department of Justice (DOJ) to permit Apple and Google to inform their customers and the general public about demands for smartphone app notification records,” Wyden writes in the letter... Wyden moved the DOJ to allow Apple and Google to be transparent about the demands they receive from governments regarding push notification surveillance. Meanwhile, the two companies welcomed Wyden’s letter and acknowledged that push notification surveillance has been happening for a while. Apple even said it was not allowed to disclose government requests for push notification data but will start informing users about it now. Yikes.

Google Messages added Ultra HDR image support in RCS chats and no one noticed it yet Google Messages has added support for Ultra HDR images, but with the other limitations that come with the new image format. Ultra HDR is a new image format that is available on Android 14, and it is available only on RCS chats. As a result, you will only be able to experience this new feature on Android 14 devices. You’ll also need an Ultra HDR image, which you can easily capture on the Pixel 8 series. Ultra HDR is a new image format that is the standard JPEG format with HDR metadata. Since Ultra HDR builds on top of JPEG, non-HDR displays can continue to show the standard image, while HDR displays can take advantage of the HDR metadata to boost the colors and contrast of the image. You get darker shadows and brighter highlights and an overall richer photo.

Apple’s MagSafe tech is coming to Android in 2024: Samsung and Pixel users should be celebrating https://www.phonearena.com/news/forget-imessage-samsung-pixel-users-can-celebrate-apple-magsafe-coming-to-android_id152847 It's up to Android phone-makers to add magnetic wireless charging to their phones now. - Forget iMessage! Samsung and Pixel can celebrate: Apple’s MagSafe is coming to Android It's up to Android phone-makers to add magnetic wireless charging to their phones now. It’s important to note that not all Qi2 chargers will be magnetic. Instead, there will be two types of Qi2 chargers - one of them will feature Apple’s Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), maxing out at 15W (that’s the MagSafe one). The second type of Qi2 chargers, based on “Extended Power Profile” (EPP) won’t support MagSafe but you’ll be gaining double the charging speeds, at 30W.

Google's issues with Android backups are more apparent than ever Users continue to encounter frustrating issues when trying to deploy Android Backup. It’s an ongoing concern, one that hasn’t been addressed to the satisfaction of the digital search powerhouse known as Google, not to mention the actual users themselves. Recently, only compounding the problem, a kernel bug locked some of the Android faithful out, cutting them off from their data.

Google Drive’s integrated document scanner gets a fresh coat of paint Google regularly updates the UI of its apps, so they align with the latest Material Design guidelines and look like a part of the family. Drive gets its fair share of updates, with recent improvements focused around making the web UI easier to navigate if you love organizing items in folders. On larger tablets, you may notice the Drive app for Android now shows saved files alongside their file size in a dense list view instead of the thumbnail view, which didn’t really help documents. Lest we forget, Material Design 3 principles are also implemented.
