Let me tell you a secret from the cat’s perspective: the cat who has anointed you as the human to live in their house is never really stuck on the roof. The cat is acting like they are stuck, and they do an excellent job of selling it. The cat accomplishes a few things by making you think they are stuck on the roof. First, it’s a passive-aggressive way of demonstrating that you are doing other things wrong (see my previous articles about cats and passive-aggressiveness). It is most likely a test of your devotion to the cat. Secondly, it points out to you that you aren’t so nimble. It is only with great difficulty and assistance from a ladder that you can get up on the roof. It’s a subtle way of showing the cat’s superiority.
