Rainy season is coming but not here yet. The nopal blooms with an increased humidity. The loofah is climbing up and birdhouse gourd appears strong n healthy from the grass. Many say the grass robs the water n chokes the plants. I believe it breaks up dirt and shades the soil helping bacteria and biome survive. Grasses also capture a lot water from the air and add biomass. I do cut it back after a bit but your looking at hibiscus, agave, birdhouse gourd, loofah and a melon in that grass. Finally down to installing roof on in ground nursery. Oversized perfectly but not sure of enough light. Unaware the tarp had a Grey underside, hoping it was all white n would let enough light in. Probably fine during summer but will need ventilation. Definitely will trap water both inside and condensate on the outside. Went to do a minor repair on my new ebike and saw my friend had some serious Moringa trees covered in seed. I just decided to start collecting more Moringa seeds from all over the area. Helps create a land race of this incredible plant. In 2 days have hundreds from 2 people and more coming from another. Time to get busy planting. This tree alone can provide more protein than meat, more calcium than milk. Leaves, roots, flowers and seeds, all edible and loaded with nutrition. The seed oil can be used to cook with, better than olive in some cases, can be burned as biodiesel and used in lotions. Days like this I spray biological or worm tea taking advantage of the added moisture to get it well absorbed. I also leave "weeds" and grasses to help.live much and capture water. Haven't been able to just work on this but getting the 1st part if nursery pounded out. These stub walls are quick dirty and only to keep water from entering the in the ground nursery. Will have a hoop or conestoga style roof once finished. Hibiscus or Roselle is the red flower that's acting more like a perrinial than annual having been harvested around Christmas. Makes a great hot or cold tea known as Jaimaica. Also in the pic growing, agave, aloe vera, nopal cactus, purslane, loofah and camomile. Deer horns make for great protectors against birds. #homesteading #gardening #offgrid #bitcoin #permaculture

Wow. Nice soaking rain most of the night. Great start for the year. Big deal considering had no rain in 2024. Not sure if it will be enough to really green up the place but it sure helps the soil biome and all the starts I have going. Going to harvest a few more loofah today so they don't mold.
