Have you ever seen a four-story Indigenous house? This is a house, or banwa, of the Palaw'an. Some houses can even reach five to six stories.
The main post supporting the entire house is a living tree called alauna, considered one of the sturdiest trees. Other plants used in constructing the house include patong (a type bamboo) for the flooring and rattans for tying, including malahag, magsapuon, and timbarangan. Sumbiling, napnap, and batbat are used for the walls, while native woods such as bunog, burngaw, burirawan, malakugong, and alauna are used for the foundations and frames.
