As the sun sinks below the horizon, our atmosphere bends its light like a prism. Red fades, blue scatters, and for one or two seconds only green survives to reach your eyes. It needs a clean, clear horizon over open water — which is why Hawaii is legendary for it. Blink and you'll miss it.
