They are not going to stop. Lightning, liquid, federations, hardware wallets, non-custodial wallets. They want it all gone.

There is a long track record of big business and big government working hand-in-hand to support each other’s interests. Wall Street moving aggressively into the Bitcoin space while law enforcement goes after companies like Samourai should not be thought of as coincidental. It is about control. If this new form of money can’t be banned, it can be regulated, tracked, and swallowed up the by the same entities it was designed to avoid. It’s the history of the pursuit of power. Bankers in suits didn’t suddenly read the white paper and get inspired by freedom money. They are doing what they do. Just watch your six, everyone.

Tax filing day in the US. Each year it seems more absurd to see what is asked of us just to comply with the bare minimum. The complexity is stressful, the carve-outs are endless, and it is absolutely tilted toward those with the resources and power to take advantage of it. Hoping for peace somehow. We keep ending up here, generations after the last, hurting each other again and again in the false name of faith or self-defense or any other narrative to justify the horror. My heart breaks at the fallout that hits so many good people just trying to get by. Building with optimism, no matter what form that takes, has never been more important. Keep working.

Couple of random Saturday thoughts: 1 - My interactions with the legacy systems of banking and government that highlight the wretched, oppressive qualities of KYC are becoming more and more frequent as the tentacles grow. 2 - Knowing there is a path where it doesn’t have to be this way makes the description of Bitcoin as “hope” a lot more tangible and real. First GM + first note. Hello, everyone. Have never been interested in social media at all, but it feels like Nostr might be shaping something with purpose.
