From classroom to hodlers, toward sovereignty
At first, there was a part of me that hesitate toward making a theater play to introduce how fiat money is created. “Would it be silly for adults to act in front of students?” Turns out after the sessions, two students told us how helpful those acts since it makes things easier to understand and fun!!
The first collaboration of generasi merdeka (me) with Bitcoin Indonesia in British School Jakarta . In the first session, with simulation and theater act, we introduced the problem of fiat money and inflation, as simple as possible. The second session : the students were exploring about different assets like gold, stocks, bitcoin, real estate and discussing with their friends which are the best for them. A journey of thousand miles start with a single step, indeed. Here is one for more to come. Lesson learned: seating matters, discussion is essential for engagement and learning process, a theater play is memorable and bring a unique experience to the audience ❤️
We will be also starting our full modules on Darul Ulum a boarding school in Tanggerang. It will be full pack 4 days of deep research, visiting museum of Bank Indonesia, meeting experts and financial planner. At the end of the process, they will be answering the project driving question “What can we do to help fellow Darul Ulum students avoid financial traps such as scam, online gamble and more than that THRIVE and financially success in the future?” They will present their final products to their fellow students and teachers
Tomorrow, we will be helping bitcoin Indonesia reaching out to students in BSJ. We planned to incorporate drama in introducing the fiat money problem, so that it will be easier to grasp since some of the audience are as young as 14 y.o If things go well, we will use similar methods to university student in Tanggerang The goals are first, raising awareness that there is fundamental problem in fiat money And in the second session, so what are the solution? -> discussing together so where should we store our wealth as young people Gold? Stocks? Real estate? Bitcoin? Other coins? And that’s how bitcoin is introduced
We will bring the students to the Bank of Indonesia museum and ask them the question, “why our money keep changing?” They will see with their own eyes. How the money value keep decreasing, we once had 1 rupiah and now the smallest amount is 1000 rupiah. They can check the history that once our money was backed by gold, but no more
We finally got a partnership with Darul Ulum school. On 7-10 December we will conduct a financial literacy for high school students. This will be our pilot project. Hopefully both the organizer, the students will learn a lot through the process.
At the last session, we talk about fiat problem and why bitcoin is the solution and sending few sats to our team members, so they could experience it. The response wasn’t bad
Full team meet up before our first pilot project. Finally, meet up in Jakarta. We were discussing about teacher training plan, conducting webinar, and pilot project image
We have finished our proposal and terms of reference, and sent it to three schools. Wish us the best in our effort. Our first proposal is a 14 sessions of enquiry project based learning in financial literacy image
