After the Ice Age, Kasavuori was covered with water. The water washed away the loose soil from the rock's lower parts. When Kasavuori was freed from the water, vegetation was able to take root in the cracks and depressions in the rock.
It was much more difficult to conquer bare rock surfaces. Lichens and mosses did the pioneering work. They contain species that can survive on tap water and withstand periodic droughts/Later, vascular plants were able to take root in the lichen and moss vegetation.
The Rasavuori area is considered to be of scenic, geological and lithological significance in Uusimaa, and Kasavuori itself is currently classified as a valuable rock aluce.
Rock agarics and lichens do not withstand wear. You can protect the delicate rock vegetation by walking on your trails
