I just got a refurbished ThinkPad L15 Gen 1 laptop out to a local customer.
He asked for Linux, so I recommended and pre-installed Linux Mint Debian Edition.
I should have taken a screenshot of the 'fetch' output on this laptop. Nice upgrades. Intel i7 (10th gen), upgraded to 32GB memory (two 16GB modules) and a new 1TB Crucial NVME SSD.

Today I am doing a System Migration from a ThinkPad T530 to a ThinkPad T14 Gen 1.
Customer wanted a lighter laptop easier to carry to the meetings that she uses it to take notes and other meeting business.
Windows 10 was using "Legacy" boot. I converted to UEFI:
mbr2gpt /convert /allowfullos
then set it be able to boot from nvme:
sc.exe config stornvme start= boot
Shutdown with:
shutdown -s -t 1
Made CloneZilla image, which I will then be applying to the ThinkPad T14.

Good morning.
Anyone know of a guide for generating an SSH key file (.pem or .ppk) for allowing FileZilla (file transfer program) to access a remote server with a key file instead of a password?
So far, what I have tried has not worked. I am likely missing a step, but not sure what it is.

Good summary of the situation. Also glad that he mentioned alternatives like Nostr

The Broken Fediverse
When Elon Musk originally bought Twitter, a number of people moved over to Mastodon. There were a lot of misunderstandings around how Mastodon work...
Excellent! Another reason to be happy about the XLibre fork.
Tech innovation can be much improved by people who are not afraid of committing "wrongthink".

More reason to keep publishing on alternatives. For RetroEdge, we use our own #peertube server.

So glad that I haven't spent anything on new Apple hardware or services for at least a decade.
Vote with your dollars. Defund incompetence and DEI. Inclusiveness for its own sake is a recipe for ruin.
If you do want DEI and what it stands for, by all means go out and buy another MacBook.

Attempt at Reputation Repair is my take. My hope is that they are not successful. Facebook has proven itself to not operating in the interests of liberty and freedom.

Was going through my old pictures.
This one is from February 2020. Was trying out bspwm with a Manjaro Community Edition on a ThinkPad T420s laptop.

Just installed BunsenLabs Linux on a ThinkPad X13 with Ryzen 7 processor.
First impression is that they did a good job with the defaults, OpenBox theming, keyboard shortcuts and initial instructions.

Anyone here listening to podcasts the original way with some kind of software that downloads the audio and then syncs it with a dedicated audio player (not necessarily an iPod) ?
If so, feel free to share what you use for software, syncing and audio playing device.

Just burned a CD
Ebay seller shipped the Ryzen AM4 cpu just in a plastic bag between two pieces of cardboard and then in a small bubble mailer.
The pins were bent.
Took me about an hour of careful work with an exacto knife under a light to get them all bent back in place.
I guess that is one reason that AMD switched to LGA instead of PGA for their AM5 processors.
I do like AM4 and bent pins are rarely a problem... but when you do have to deal with bent pins, they sure can be frustrating.

This is excellent news! Keep pushing back against bureaucracy.

Just listened to an informative and inspiring interview of Alexander Medvednikov, creator of the V programming language.
The interview is in Russian, as I am not fluent in that language I turned on English sub-titles and read along.
Very much worth the time for me, as I very much value Alexander's approach. The last twenty minutes gave me insights into his values and priorities. I think his goals for what computing and tech could be is inspiring.
The V programming language is still in beta and it might be a while before it reaches 1.0, so heads up on that.

I am not a fan of Apple's recent products (the last 10 years or so).
However, I am interested in what's going on here. Mainly because my biased opinion is that AI is mostly a scam to artificially boost tech companies' perceived value.
If Apple isn't going in on the AI hype, hopefully that will be a wake up call to investors and tech commentators.
