There are many things that go into marriage, but one thing that is not normally explicitly articulated is this:
The person you marry is the person you are choosing to spend the worst times of your life with you.
The good times are easy to get through together or alone, but having someone to rely on in the worst times can be a much needed lifeline. This is why the vows say "in good times and bad". It is an acknowledgement that you WILL face tough times. We all do., but a committed married couple is better equipped to survive in bad circumstances.
As a Christian you should also choose someone who believes as you do. This is explicitly stated in the Bible. Don't marry an unbeliever. A believing spouse will help anchor your faith as well as being there for the day to day trials of life.
"Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone? And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart."

For the moment, let's leave religion out of this discussion. I will come back to it later.
All Humans(people), by nature, have the same rights; not dependent on when, where, how, or what gender they are born. These Rights supersede all national affiliations and national laws. These are natural laws. They existed before there were governments and will remain after.
First and foremost, All people own themselves.
All people are entitled to the fruits of their own labor.
All associations, transactions, contracts, agreements, sales, etc. of Any kind, for Any reason must be voluntary. (Non-Aggression Principle or NAP - Aggression/Coercion should not be used to force anyone to do, say, or agree to Anything. The ONLY time aggression may be used is in the defense of the life and rights of yourself (or others) from another party initiating aggression.)
Theft of any kind is wrong.
These represent my ETHICAL stance on way human society should be. I understand that this model of
Right-To-Repair is under attack.
BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT:
HR 7389 (Motor Vehicle Modernization Act of 2026) is advancing quietly through Congress and risks weakening consumer right-to-repair by failing to secure strong access to modern vehicle telematics and data. This hands more control to automakers and dealers over who can legally and effectively repair your car, protecting their massive post-sale service and data revenue streams at the expense of independent shops and vehicle owners.
Full Summary and Analysis:
A recent video by automotive expert Lauren Fix ( ) highlights a concerning bill moving through Congress with very little public attention. HR 7389 was introduced in February 2026, raced through committee with a near-unanimous 48-1 vote in May, and contains provisions that directly impact the future of vehicle ownership and repairs.
On the surface the bill sounds positive — "modernization" of safety rules, automated systems, and some repair language. But the details and what was removed tell a different story. Stronger language on telematics access (the wireless data, diagnostics, calibrations, and connected systems that modern vehicles rely on) was stripped out before the committee vote. This is a major red flag.
Why This Matters — The Core Concerns
Modern cars are computers on wheels. Repairs increasingly require access to proprietary data, software updates, sensor calibrations, and remote systems. When independent mechanics and owners cannot easily get this information:
● Favorite local shops become unable to perform many repairs efficiently or at all
● Dealers gain even more monopoly power over service
● Owners lose real choice and face higher costs and longer waits
● Vehicle "ownership" becomes more like a long-term lease where the manufacturer controls critical functions after the sale
The $200+ billion annual U.S. automotive service market is at stake. Automakers and dealer groups have strong financial incentives to keep control of this data and these repairs. This is not primarily about safety or cybersecurity (Massachusetts has operated under stronger right-to-repair rules for years with no catastrophe). It is about controlling the ongoing revenue from diagnostics, subscriptions, connected services, and data.
This mirrors problems already seen in farm equipment (John Deere controversies) where owners buy the machine but cannot freely repair it without manufacturer involvement. Cars are heading down the same path.
The Massachusetts Example
Voters in Massachusetts approved strong right-to-repair measures, including telematics access. Despite industry lawsuits and dire warnings about hacking and safety, the sky did not fall. Independent shops continue operating, consumers have choices, and no major disasters occurred. This real-world proof shows broader access is workable, yet similar stronger protections were removed from the federal bill.
What Was Stripped and What Remains
Original versions pushed for meaningful telematics and data access for independents. That language disappeared. What remains is a weaker codification of older voluntary agreements that do not fully address wireless/connected vehicle realities. This favors the dealer/manufacturer ecosystem and leaves independent repair shops at a growing disadvantage as vehicles become more software-dependent.
The rapid, quiet, bipartisan push on this bill — combined with heavy lobbying from auto companies and dealer groups — raises legitimate questions about who is really driving the process and who benefits long-term.
The Bigger Picture
This is not just about changing your own brake pads or spark plugs. It is about the fundamental shift in vehicle ownership. Cars that stay connected generate ongoing revenue through data, updates, and restricted repairs. Limiting competition from independent shops protects that revenue model but reduces consumer power and choice.
If these trends continue unchecked, owners will have fewer options, higher lifetime costs, and less true ownership of the vehicles they purchase.
Call to Action
● Read the bill yourself.
● Contact your representatives.
● Support stronger right-to-repair protections modeled on the successful Massachusetts approach.
● Push for full telematics access for independent repair facilities that meet training and security standards.
The decisions being made now will determine whether you can still take your car to the mechanic you trust years from now — or whether you will be forced back to the dealer every time.
This issue affects every vehicle owner in America. Most people won't notice until their trusted local shop can no longer service newer vehicles. By then, regaining those rights will be much harder.
Pay attention now. Vehicle ownership and freedom to repair are worth protecting.

#MotorVehicleActProverbs 3:5 is one of the most popular verses in the bible and was written by the wisest man to every have lived. It has a deep meaning that is lost in the translation into English.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding." (NASB)
The Hebrew Word: לֵב (lev or leb)
The word translated as "heart" is lev (לֵב, sometimes appearing as levav or lebab). In biblical Hebrew, this term goes far deeper than the modern English sense of "heart" as the seat of emotions or feelings (like romance or sentiment).
Lev refers to the inner person or the control center of a human being — the hub of thoughts, intellect, emotions, will, decisions, desires, conscience, and overall character. It is essentially everything that makes you what you are — your full inner self, the real "you" behind your actions and choices.
Biblical writers used lev for the whole integrated inner life, not a split between "head" (thinking) and "heart" (feeling) as modern Western culture often does.
Lev in Biblical Usage
● Intellect and mind: Thinking, understanding, planning, and wisdom. (E.g., "As a man thinks in his heart [lev], so is he" — Proverbs 23:7.)
● Emotions: Feelings, joys, sorrows, courage, or fear.
● Will and volition: Choices, commitments, obedience, or rebellion. It’s where decisions are made.
● Whole inner being: The center of moral and spiritual life — what God examines ("Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" — 1 Samuel 16:7).
"With all your lev" means entrusting your entire inner self — not just feelings, not just intellect, but your thoughts, desires, decisions, character, and core identity — fully to God. It is a call for complete dependence, without holding back any part of who you are. This contrasts with "lean not on your own understanding" (binah — discernment or insight). The verse urges shifting reliance from your limited, finite inner resources to God's wisdom and guidance.
So a better translation might be something like
“Trust in the Lord with your whole being — with all that you are: your mind, your will, your desires, your thoughts, and the very center of who you are — and do not lean on your own limited understanding.”
It gives a much deeper meaning to the verse.

I really hate the tendency to redefine words for political purposes.
Nationalism is a political, social, and cultural ideology that emphasizes the interests, culture, identity, and unity of a nation (a group of people sharing common language, history, traditions, ethnicity, values, or territory) above those of other nations or international bodies.
Therefore Christian Nationalism is a political, social, and cultural ideology that emphasizes the interests, culture, identity, and unity of a nation—understood as a group of people sharing common language, history, traditions, ethnicity, values, or territory—with Christianity (or a particular expression of it) viewed as integral or foundational to that shared heritage and character. It prioritizes this national framework above those of other nations or international bodies.
This is not a bad thing.
It is not an undesirable viewpoint.
It is what this country (the USA) was founded on and what the vast majority of the laws and standards of morality are dependent upon. Trying to change that ( like the left has been doing for a very long time ) weakens the foundation that this country is built on. This is a big reason why we have many the problems we see today.
I am against racism as classically defined:
Racism (classical definition) is the belief that humans can be divided into distinct biological "races," that inherited physical traits are linked to inherent differences in abilities, character, intellect, morality, or behavior, and that some races are superior or inferior to others.
I am NOT against being proud of my cultural heritage and trying to maintain it.

Andy Stumpf interviewing Matthew Griffin
Matthew spent six years in the Navy as a Search and Rescue swimmer. Then fifteen years as a cop — Virginia Beach, then undercover narcotics in New Hampshire during the opioid epidemic. He worked under a different name for years. He wrote a book, The Journey to Midnight, about the night he planned to kill himself. Now he talks to cops and veterans about it.
This one covers why suicide is so high in law enforcement and the military. Trauma stacks up and you never get the time to process it. The "unfit for duty" label that ends careers, so nobody asks for help. A fatal wreck on Route 101. A man who shot himself three feet away. A two-and-a-half-year-old, a blind cord, and thirty seconds in a car that Matt still hasn't let go of.
His chief checked on him one day, then went home and killed himself two hours later. What he did with that is most of this conversation.

The Context and the Coin
The Pharisees (and Herodians) tried to trap Jesus with a politically and religiously loaded question: "Is it lawful to pay taxes [tribute] to Caesar, or not?" Answering "yes" could make him seem like a Roman collaborator (alienating Jewish nationalists); "no" could get him arrested for sedition.Jesus asked to see the coin used for the tax. They produced a denarius (a silver Roman coin worth about a day's wage for a laborer). He asked whose image (eikōn) and inscription (epigraphē) were on it. They replied, "Caesar's." Jesus then said, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
This coin is traditionally called the "Tribute Penny" (from the King James Version). It was most likely a denarius of Emperor Tiberius (r. 14–37 AD), minted in places like Lugdunum (modern Lyon).
Typical features:
● Obverse: Portrait of Tiberius with an inscription like "TI[berius] CAESAR DIVI AVG[usti] F[ilius] AVGVSTVS" — "Tiberius Caesar, son of the deified Augustus."
● Reverse: Often a seated female figure (Livia as Pax or similar) with "PONTIF MAXIM" (Pontifex Maximus, high priest).
It was the specific coin required (or commonly used) for the Roman poll tax/tribute in the province.
Did Possessing It Break Jewish Law?
Yes, according to a strict interpretation of the Second Commandment (Exodus 20:4–5):
"You shall not make for yourself a carved image [graven image], or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them."
The coin bore a human image (the emperor) presented in a divine or semi-divine context via the inscription claiming sonship of a "deified" Augustus. This tied directly into the imperial cult, where the emperor was treated as divine or worthy of cultic honors — something devout Jews saw as idolatry.
Many sources note that pious Jews viewed these coins as blasphemous. Carrying or using one could imply acceptance of the emperor's divinity or at least violate the prohibition on images of false gods.
This is why Jesus calling them hypocrites is pointed: they carried and produced the very coin that represented the idolatry and foreign domination they (especially the Pharisees) publicly opposed, while plotting against him. Jesus himself apparently did not produce one.

CORRUPTED BEAUTY
“To corrupt or destroy whatsoever arose new and fair
was ever the chief desire of Morgoth...”
-The Silmarillion
J.R.R. Tolkien had a way with words that few men possess. His writings are clearly influenced by his faith and contain illustrations that are easy to understand and remember. At the very heart of his literary works is a conflict between good and evil, light and dark, the Creator and his rebellious creations. If this sounds familiar, then you should not be surprised. It is the story of the Bible. It is the story of God's creation and its corruption. It is the story of how the whole of creation has been tainted and made impure by pride.
At the root of this rebellion stands Pride—the very word many now rally behind. What was once a warning (“Pride goes before destruction…”) has become a celebration. The natural order has been inverted: evil is paraded in the streets, acts the Bible calls abominable are labeled “empowering,” and self-harm is reframed as self-expression. Scripture warns us clearly: pride comes before the fall.
Sexual identity was never intended to be debated. Sexual partners were never supposed to be of the same sex. Sexual promiscuity was never the plan for humanity. God established the pattern in marriage but, as is always the case, Satan has done his best to corrupt it.
Marriage is a lifelong, covenantal, one-flesh union between one man and one woman, established by God at creation, entered into by mutual consent (“leaving,” “cleaving,” and consummation), and dissolvable only by death (or in the very limited cases of infidelity (sexual immorality/porneia) that Jesus and Paul discuss in Matt 19:9 and 1 Cor 7:15).
"Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” … So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called ‘woman,’
Because she was taken out of man.”
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." " Genesis 2:18–24
"And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, and said, ‘FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” Matthew 19:4–6
Sex is encouraged, but only within the confines of marriage. This is by design. God wills it to be so. Sex and or sexual intimacy in any other context is forbidden. This includes same sex relations, pre-marital relations, polyamorous relations, etc.
When faced with any other sin we are commanded to stand fast and resist, but sexual immorality is different. We are told to flee from sexual sin.
● “But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband.” 1 Corinthians 7:2
● “You shall not sleep with a male as one sleeps with a female; it is an abomination.” Leviticus 18:22
● “For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions; for their females exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise the men, too, abandoned natural relations with women and burned in their desire toward one another, males with males committing shameful acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.” Romans 1:26–27
● “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate [Greek: malakoi], nor homosexuals [arsenokoitai], nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9–10
● “But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and sexually immoral persons [pornois], and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
These things are not to be celebrated; they are perversions of God’s beautiful design and separate us from Him. Satan has worked hard to break down marriage because it was always meant to be a living picture of Christ’s faithful, sacrificial love for His Church.
Yet the gospel does not leave us in condemnation. The same God who hates sin loves sinners enough to send His Son. Through repentance and faith in Jesus, anyone—regardless of past or present struggles—can be washed, sanctified, and given a new identity in Christ (1 Corinthians 6:11).
Satan’s use of the rainbow is no surprise. God gave it as a sign of mercy after judgment (Genesis 9). The enemy always twists what is holy. But God’s promises endure. His design for marriage and human flourishing endures. And His offer of forgiveness still stands.

The Cultural Context of “Turn the Other Cheek” and What It Really Means for Self-Defense
Many people today claim that Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:38-42 mean Christians should never use force, even to protect themselves or their family. But the historical and cultural context paints a much more nuanced picture.
In 1st-century Judea under Roman occupation, Jesus gave these specific examples:
● “If anyone slaps you on the right cheek...”
A backhanded slap was not a full fight. It was a demeaning insult delivered by a superior to an inferior (Roman to Jew, master to slave, etc.). By turning the other cheek, the victim was forcing the aggressor to either strike them with an open palm — the way one strikes an equal — or back down in shame. It was a bold, nonviolent way of asserting human dignity.
● “If anyone forces you to go one mile...”
Roman soldiers could legally compel civilians to carry their gear for one mile. Going a second mile voluntarily put the soldier in a difficult position — he could be punished for exceeding his authority. The oppressed person suddenly took control of the situation.
● “If anyone sues you and takes your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.”
Giving your outer cloak would leave you naked in public. In that honor-shame culture, this would shame the greedy creditor far more than the debtor.
These are powerful examples of creative, assertive, nonviolent resistance against daily humiliation and minor oppression. Jesus was not teaching helpless passivity. He was rejecting the cycle of violent revenge while refusing to play by the world’s rules of power.
However, these examples have limits.
Jesus was addressing personal insults, legal exploitation, and petty oppression — not armed robbery, home invasion, rape, or murder attempts. The full Bible does not teach total pacifism when innocent life is on the line.
Supporting verses:
● Exodus 22:2-3 clearly permits deadly force to defend your home against a nighttime intruder with no bloodguilt.
● Luke 22:35-36 — Just before His arrest, Jesus instructed His disciples: “If you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.” He was preparing them for real danger.
● 1 Timothy 5:8 — “Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith...” Protection is part of provision.
Nehemiah’s wall builders carried weapons while they worked (Nehemiah 4).
Jesus never taught that we must stand by and watch evil people slaughter the innocent or attack our wives and children. He taught us to reject hatred, personal vengeance, and disproportionate retaliation — while still valuing and protecting God-given life.
The balanced Christian position is this:
Pursue peace when possible. Absorb personal insults when appropriate. But do not abandon the weak and innocent when violent evil comes.
Wisdom, love, restraint, and courage are all required.

Who is This Jesus That Even the Waters Obey?
The ancient Israelites saw waters as raw chaos and danger - the untamed deep that only God could master without effort. He parted the Red Sea to save His people and crush their enemies, sent or withheld rain as blessing or judgment, and rebuked sea monsters like Leviathan to establish order.
Jesus steps into this exact story.
He walks on the Sea of Galilee in the middle of the night, commanding the same kind of chaotic waters that once swallowed Pharaohs army at the Red Sea. The disciples are terrified, yet Jesus simply says "It is I" - echoing Gods own name - and the waves obey Him instantly.
He sleeps in a boat during a violent storm that threatens to kill everyone. The terrified disciples wake Him. He stands and rebukes the wind and waves with a word: "Peace. Be still." The sea goes flat like glass. The men whisper in awe: "Who then is this, that even wind and sea obey Him?"This is the same power the Psalms ascribed only to Yahweh, the One enthroned over the flood.
Jesus doesnt fight the waters like pagan gods. He commands them effortlessly, just as in Genesis 1. At His baptism the heavens open and the Spirit descends as the Father speaks - a new creation moment, passing through waters like a greater Exodus.
He offers living water to the thirsty woman at the well, water that becomes a spring of eternal life. On the last day of the Feast He cries out that rivers of living water will flow from those who believe in Him.
The God of Israel who tamed the deep has come in the flesh. The chaos that once threatened His people now bows at His feet. The same power that delivered Israel through the sea now delivers sinners through faith in Jesus - from death, from fear, from every raging storm.
Who is this Jesus? He is the eternal Son of God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, who took on human flesh to redeem His people.
"He who has ears, let him hear."

Really liked this.
Testament is a TV series (2025–) that dramatizes the Book of Acts from the New Testament.a47166
Premise:
It follows a small group of early believers (the apostles and early Christians, such as Peter, Saul/Paul, John, Mary Magdalene, and others) as they spread the gospel message after Jesus' resurrection and the events of Pentecost. The core tagline captures it: "The story of a small group of believers who turned the world upside down."
The show reimagines these biblical events in a modern-day context, blending faithful adherence to the scripture with contemporary settings, characters, and societal dynamics to make the story more relatable. It emphasizes the humanity, doubts, emotions, relationships, and challenges of these historical figures while depicting the growth of the early church, persecution, miracles, and the spread of Christianity.a1fe98
It's produced in a high-quality, non-cheesy style (similar to other Angel Studios projects) and focuses on themes of faith, community, tension, and transformation.

As a father, there are times when you will know more than your children. You will understand the world and how it works in a way that your children never will until they experience it for themselves. Sometimes the hardest thing is to step back and let those experiences happen, then be there to help pick up the pieces after.
It hurts.
This is my attempt to spare others some of that hurt. It is an effort to share insight from someone who has seen more of the world, so that others might learn from experiences and mistakes without repeating them.
FOR MEN LOOKING FOR A WIFE:
Body Count Matters
Men seeking a committed relationship and family life generally do not value high sexual experience in a potential wife—quite the opposite. A family-oriented man tends to avoid women with significant baggage. He does not want to raise another man’s children, marry into debt, or deal with major drama. Instead, he looks for purity, youth, commitment, honor, and a willingness to follow his lead on major household decisions.
When a woman has been with many men, most of these qualities become far less likely. A high body count often means constant (even subconscious) comparisons to previous lovers. “Bad boys” tend to be more exciting but less reliable as providers and fathers. This can create lifestyle expectations that clash with family life. The “grass is always greener” mentality can lead to restlessness, dissatisfaction in the bedroom, or financial irresponsibility that ultimately damages or destroys the family.
Status Does Not Matter
For a traditional man, a woman’s professional success or career achievements carry little weight. He intends to be the primary provider for the family. Many women tend to view the money they earn as “hers” and the money he earns as “theirs”—a dynamic that often creates tension.
A demanding career also means significant time away from home and children. Child-rearing is frequently outsourced to daycare and institutions that may not share your values. This reduces daily proximity, weakens the familial bond, leads to fewer home-cooked meals, and brings more work-related stress into the household. Most men are willing to work hard to provide, but in return they expect peace in the home and their needs to be met—outcomes that are far more difficult when the wife is heavily focused on her career.
For Both Husbands and Wives:
Religious Convictions Matter
DO NOT enter a serious relationship with someone of a different faith.
DO NOT enter a serious relationship with someone from a different denomination or sect.
DO NOT DO IT!
Nothing good is likely to come from it. Religious differences tend to drive wedges between spouses, spark repeated arguments, confuse children, reduce church involvement, and sometimes lead one or both partners to drift away from the faith.
The Bible warns:
"Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
- II Corinthians 6:14 (NASB)
Resolve Arguments Before Sleeping
Address problems immediately. Do not let them fester like an infection. Have enough faith in each other that you can have hard conversations about difficult problems without worrying that the other will leave and give up. It is much easier to fix a problem in its infancy that when it is full grown. Do not give it a chance to grow. There is no doubt that you will face difficult situations; we all do. Godly people—and especially godly marriages—are prime targets of the enemy. Expect difficulties and deal with them early.
Make a Habit of Praying Together
couple that prays together tends to stay on the same path. When you focus on God first, everything else tends to fall into place. Praying together reminds you of your priorities and shared goals. It also helps you express things that are difficult to say otherwise. Talking to your Heavenly Father about what troubles you or excites you is one of the most natural and powerful things you can do as a couple. Seek His wisdom and guidance together.
Remember Your Vows
Are you a Man or Woman of honor?
Who did you make your promise to?
As a Christian you promised to GOD to honor your spouse according you His rules and guidance.
As a Husband or Wife you promised to your spouse that you would put their welfare and that of the family unit above your own desires.
As a Son- or Daughter-In-Law you promised these same things to your spouse's extended family.
A whole host of people are counting on you to live as a person of honor. They will (and should) hold you accountable to the vows you willingly made. Do not become angry when they remind you of your obligations.
Live a life of honor. Set an example for your children. They are counting on you.

"To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled."
1 Titus 1:15
I have a different take on this than what you have probably thought of. This one hit me head on today during study.
Sexual Innuendo, course joking, and foul language are all things that intrude into otherwise harmless conversations because of the defiled and unpure.
Much to my shame, I find myself falling into this trap over and over again. This is one I really need our Lord's help to fix. I have proven inadequate on my own.

What is Sin?
Sin is fundamentally rebellion against or violation of God's will/law, which reflects His holy character.
It is:
• Falling short of God's glory (Romans 3:23).
• Rebellion or missing the mark (e.g., Hebrew khata' often means "to miss the goal"; Greek hamartia conveys failure or offense).
• Anything not from faith (Romans 14:23) or failure to love God and neighbor fully.
• Basically, sin is doing wrong (evil) or failing to do right (good).
So if this is the case:
• How do we recognize sin?
• Where do we learn what God's law is?
• How do we learn about His nature?
The Jews say to follow the 10 Commandments and the rest of the Law as handed down to Moses and the prophets. Christians tend to say there are only two commandments: Love God and Love Others. Still others will say follow your heart.
Which is correct?
What about the people who lived before Moses? What about people who have never heard about Jesus?
The Bible teaches that humans have an innate awareness of right and wrong through the conscience, even without explicit teaching or the written law of God.
"For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them."
Romans 2:14-15
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse."
Romans 1:18-20
Satan knew this from the beginning
"For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Genesis 3:5
The 10 Commandments were a summary of God's pre-existing law. They told us what to do and, more importantly, how to think if we wanted to be in a right relationship with God.
Think about the Sabbath.
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy..."
Exodus 20:8
This was not the beginning of this principle. It appears in the very beginning of the Bible
"Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made."
Genesis 2:1-3
Why did God rest on the seventh day? Was He tired? No. He rested to make a point. We were never designed to work all the time. We need rest and time to maintain our relationship with God.
Think about tithing. When was the first mention of sacrificing to God? When was 10% first given back to God?
"So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the LORD from the fruit of the ground. Abel, on his part also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering;"
Genesis 4:3-5
"And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High.
He blessed him and said,
'Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth;
And blessed be God Most High,
Who has handed over your enemies to you.'
And he gave him a tenth of everything."
Genesis 14:18-20
These are just a few examples that while the Law was explicitly given to Moses and the Israelites in the wilderness, it was always present from the moment of creation. How could it not be? Following God's Law is simply aligning yourself with His nature.
Consider this the next time you think about skipping church or dishonoring you parents. Think about it every time you talk about God. Think about it in all your dealing with others.
YOU are God's ambassador here on Earth.
Act like it...
