I have been using amethyst as my mobile NOSTR client from the beginning. This meant using my security key directly with the client. I was unaware that an app like the ALBY browser extension was available for Android. Many thanks to those the TSPC 0xchat for educating me. Amber is a NOSTR event signer for android. It stores your security key and authenticated your identity when necessary across multiple clients. Those clients never have access to your credentials. This makes your credentials more secure. It's kind of like a password manager. I found it at

Being prepared for exigent circumstances. Part 2 - Potential Unrest We are rapidly approaching "mostly peaceful protest" season. What do you have in your vehicle to be prepared for dangerous situations that could arise from such circumstances? You should always be prepared for unexpected violence, but we are soon to be in an elevated risk situation. 1) If you can carry a concealed firearm, then you should. EVERY DAY. If you are not legally allowed to do so, then you must weigh the potential risks and rewards of your decision and act accordingly. 2) You should carry a less than lethal alternative for dealing with unreasonable people at distance (especially in your vehicle). OC/Pepper Spray is a good idea. Not every situation calls for a gun. 3) Speaking of less than lethal, there might be instances where teargas has been deployed in an area you encounter. A gasmask would make dealing with this situation much safer and less painful. 4) As the threat level rises, one should consider whether having some kind of body armour available would make sense. 5) Further escalation of the threat level might justify carrying a long gun in your vehicle. 6) Your vehicle is your lifeline. It is a lethal weapon when needed, it is armour from potential adversaries, it is legally your castle and has protections, and it is a means of escape when necessary. DO NOT exit the vehicle except as a last resort. DON"T DO IT. 7) You may encounter fire. Rioters sometimes throw flaming debris or other more lethal items at cars. Carry a fire extinguisher (or 2) to use on your vehicle and or passengers that may be set on fire. Get away from the threat if you can before exiting the vehicle to extinguish the flame and reevaluate your situation. 8) And lastly, remember, you may not be the only one in the vehicle. If you are transporting others in your vehicle, then they are YOUR responsibility. YOU need to do everything in your power to ensure that they escape from such a dangerous situation unhurt. This could mean you need additional gasmasks or armour. It could mean making sure they are carrying their sidearm before the journey begins. Whatever the exact circumstances, as long as you are driving them in your vehicle, they are your responsibility. BE PREPARED TO ABORT YOUR JOURNEY OR REROUTE. Avoid unnecessary risk. Don't do stupid things in stupid places with stupid people for stupid reasons. Plan ahead. Be prepared for the worst. Arrive Safely.
