OPSEC One thing that many people forget to take into account is that many electronic devices can be tracked remotely. If you are in a situation where you need to remain hidden and you come across a potentially beneficial electronic device, then you must make a choice: 1) Risk being tracked 2) Pass up an opportunity One way to mitigate this concern is with electromagnetic signal blocking containers (faraday boxes/bags). If you are out on patrol, scavenging, relocating, going to a secret meeting, etc. you should consider carrying these bags. You would need one for any device that you already have, AND a separate bag for any incidental finds along the way. This would prevent accidental signal from your own device when opening to place a found device inside and it would protect against attacks on your personal device if that found device turns out to be malicious. Unrealistic Expectations I got in trouble with my wife for stating something that seems obvious to me (and many other people): Many women have unrealistic expectations when trying to find a mate or partner. To put it bluntly, many women misjudge their market value. They think they are an 8 when they are a 5, for example. I am not discussing just their physical attractiveness, but the whole package (beauty, age, purity, values, ethics, income, height, weight, intelligence, charisma, etc). Remember, the value that I am referring to is market value, not their intrinsic value. Market value is assigned by all the other people in the market, not by the person in question. This leads to problems when looking for a partner. One big reason is that many men will "date" down if it means getting laid even though they have no intention of ever being in a serious relationship. So a man who is a 9 might take a girl who is a 5 home from the club for sex. He might even come back a few times and/or lead her to believe that it means more to him than just easy sex. This leads many woman to overvalue themselves (as far as the dating/marriage scene is concerned) and look for more people at that unattainable level in the future. So, getting laid by a douchbag 9 disqualifies a good 7 from being considered as a mate and the woman remains alone, bitter, and confused as to why she can not find a good man. There are exceptions to the rule.  Of course there are.  If you are one,  then congrats,  but that does not disprove the rule. **WHAT DEFINES A NATION STATE?** Is it the acceptance of the international community? Is it the length of time that the territory in question has been "ruled" by a local body? --How much time is required for the territory to be considered a legitimate Nation State? --What is considered local? If the people who live in that geographical location do not wish to be a part of the internationally accepted nation state, then is it legitimate? These are all questions that need to be answered before a person starts taking sides in arguments about the legitimacy of Nation States and the actions they take throughout the world. How long has the United States been a recognized nation? How Long has Israel been a recognized nation? How Long has Ukraine been a recognized nation? The list goes on and on. The vast majority of Nations have been created by war, displacement, migration, colonization, genocide, and various other means that we can generalize with one word: Brutality. How is that any different from what we see happening in the world today. We in the west are no better than those in the east when it comes to imposing our will upon others. Nations are controlled by those best able to impose their will on others. The American people have subjugated many peoples and seized their lands for our own. So have the British, the French, the Saudi's, the Russians, the Chinese, and EVERY OTHER NATION in the world. This is the nature of the birth and continuance of a nation. This reality does not make the brutal actions of any nation justified, but it does help explain them. Should we strive towards peace and harmony a a species? I believe that we should. There are many peoples around the world that are within nations that oppress them. What should we do to fix this problem? To be fair, it must be consistent throughout the world. If a people no longer wants to be a part of the nation that claims geographical sovereignty over their area then what should the world do. Do we support the people who refuse to be ruled, or do we affirm the existing national sovereignty? We see these questions raised in Ukraine and Israel right now? How do we determine which side of the conflict, if any, is in the right and which is in the wrong? What is our responsibility in these cases? There are more questions than answers. There are more lies than truths. There are more entanglements and barbs than benefits. We, as a nation, have plenty of our own problems to deal with here at home. We don't need to go looking for more somewhere else. Let's get our own affairs in order before we involve ourselves in the problems of another nation. PSA: Just to clear up some confusion, There is a term used in the online community that some people don't understand. "THE CLOUD" Some people think that this is a location on their device (phone, tablet, computer, etc...) or some magical thing that nobody else has access to. Neither of these ideas are true and believing that they are can lead to a false sense of security for the end user. If you store data on a cloud, then all that means is you store it remotely on a different hard drive on a computer in a different place than where you currently are. Here is the security issue. Most people rely on an outside company to provide and maintain that storage. That means they provide the hardware, the software on it, the security for it, and the connection of it to the internet. If they fail to do any of these things correctly, whether through negligence or malicious intent, then your data can be unavailable, lost, compromised, changed, sold, etc. If that company does everything right but goes out of business, gets sold to a different company, gets hacked, etc. the same things can happen. There is a saying in the cryptocurrency community, "No Keys, No Coins." What this means is that if someone else controls your access to what is yours, then it is not really yours. Whoever controls access can take your data, change it, or at the very least deny you access to it. Think back to the early days of cellphones. Any photos you took with them stayed on the phone and were lost if you lost the phone. There are ways to host your own cloud services on your own remote computer if this is a concern for you (and it should be). Remember what happened to Parler? They were denied access to the internet for political reasons. People are de-platformed all the time from youtube, twitter (X), instagram, facebook etc. many times losing years of content in the process with no recourse to reaquire it. The passion of youth is a powerful thing. Everyone comes to Christ at different times and circumstances in their lives. I grew up in the church so my experience may be different from yours. I have seen the mountaintop highs, the deep valley lows, and everything in between. I have had friends come to Christ in their youth and now I have made new friends in my adult life. I have seen many things, but one thing that stands out in the midst of it all is the passion of youth. If you have never witnessed this in person, then I encourage you to go to the youth service at your church for a while. Get to know the younger members of the church and be known by them. You will be blown away. As an adult, we tend to be more reserved and cautious. We have learned and been burned by many experiences along the way, but it is different for our youth. When they truly give themselves to God it is a thing of beauty. The depth of joy when they finally make that commitment, the heart felt praise during worship, the complete whole hearted devotion is unmistakable and inspiring. How many adults do you see spontaneously get down on their knees during a worship service? How often do you see unabashed emotion on those around you? How often do you see people who are unreserved in their expression of devotion to God? I remember being that youth. I remember how it felt. I wish everyone always had that passion.
