OK, since nobody answered my question before: What specific measures would need to be taken to make an anonymous post on NOSTR? Here are a few things that I can think of. What else? 1) Create a new NOSTR account. 2) Don't post anything that could ever be tied back to you, your employer, your family, your school, etc. 3) Delete all meta-data from any files that you share. 4) Post from a different location and IP address that is not associated with you, your employer, your family, your school, etc. 5) Post from hardware (computer, mobile, etc.) that is not associated with you, your employer, your family, your school, etc. 6) access NOSTR through onion routing. 7) access NOSTR through VPN. NOSTR can't be censored, but it is not neccessarilly anonymous. If a new identity is created and nothing is posted that directly links it to a real person, then would that content be truly anonymous? BREAKING NEWS: SEVENTY-TWO KILLED RESISTING GUN CONFISCATION IN BOSTON. Seventy-two killed resisting gun confiscation in Boston National guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed on April 19th by elements of a para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw. Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement. Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order. The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons. Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms. One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.” Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans. During a tense standoff in Lexington ‘s town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists. Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange. Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces overmatched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat. Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. Long term water storage for emergency use. One can never know what the future holds. Most people at some point will face some kind of emergency situation in their life. Many times this may affect the availability of clean drinking water. It doesn't matter if it is a Natural disaster or some kind of civil unrest, without water we die. It is better to prepare for these kind of situations than to be unprepared and in a world of hurt. While I inherently DISTRUST the CDC, they are not always wrong. This is their best practices page, so take and use what you want. Some of it may be overkill... _____ "CREATING AND STORING AN EMERGENCY WATER SUPPLY Close up of water containers During a water-related emergency or outbreak, safe drinking water may not be available. Prepare for an emergency by creating and storing a supply of water that will meet your family’s needs. Bottled Water Unopened, commercially bottled water is the safest and most reliable source of water in an emergency. If you do not have bottled water, you can make your water safe to drink by following the instructions on CDC’s Making Water Safe in an Emergency page and using clean containers to collect and store your water. HOW MUCH EMERGENCY WATER TO STORE Store at least 1 gallon of water per person per day for 3 days for drinking and sanitation. Try to store a 2-week supply if possible. Consider storing more water than this for pregnant women and people who are sick, or if you have pets or live in a hot climate. Other Considerations Observe the expiration date for store-bought water. If you are filling containers with water to store, replace the water every 6 months. Store a bottle of unscented liquid household chlorine bleach (label should say it contains between 5% and 9% of sodium hypochlorite) to disinfect your water, if necessary, and to use for general cleaning and sanitizing. CHOSING A CONTAINER If you are filling containers with water to store, it is best to use food-grade water storage containers. FDA-approved food-grade storage containers will not transfer toxic substances into the water. They can be found at surplus or camping supply stores. Contact the storage container manufacturer if you are not sure whether the container is food-grade. If you are not able to use a food-grade water storage container, be sure the container you choose: Has a top that can be closed tightly. Is made of durable, unbreakable materials (not glass). Has a narrow neck or opening, if possible, so water can be poured out. DO NOT USE containers that were previously used to hold liquid or solid toxic chemicals, such as bleach or pesticides. CLEANING AND SANITIZING WATER STORAGE CONTAINER BEFORE USE Before filling with water, follow these steps to clean and sanitize water storage containers: Wash the storage container with soap and rinse completely with water. Sanitize the container with a solution made by mixing 1 teaspoon of unscented liquid household chlorine bleach in 1 quart (4 cups) of water. Use bleach that contains 5%–9% sodium hypochlorite. Cover the container tightly and shake it well. Make sure the sanitizing bleach solution touches all inside surfaces of the container. Wait at least 30 seconds and then pour the sanitizing solution out of the container. Let the empty container air-dry before use. Someone else brought this up as negative search functions ______ "Jack Spirko@jackspirko · Apr 22 💡 It occurred to me that it would be valuable for clients to not just adopt following hash tags, some do some don't right now. It would also be good to allow negative filtering. Meaning if there was a topic I just didn't give two fucks sideways about, I could neg filter the hash tag or even a word itself. Both options would be great, max flexibility. To me this is less about a user not seeing something they don't want to and more about maximizing feed value. We all have lives outside of the internet, we take time to use social media to learn, connect, build networks, etc. So it should also be very easy to see your filters, positive and negative to review and modify them. Content is like music, it isn't good or bad just subjective. Sometimes I am in the mood for old corny 80 hair band rock, most of the time I am not. I think it would be cool to have a personalized setup available to black-list certain hashtags from ever showing up in you searches and global feed unless you specifically search for them. I am referring to posts that are explicitly TAGGED as "xyz" Also for even more offensive or undesired content, have the same capability to black-list terms found in the content AND hashtags. Example 1: I don't want pornography popping up on my feed or in my searches without me going looking for it. Have a menu in a client that you can put in hashtags like "#tits" or "#porn" to filter your feed without having to type them in as "-#tits" or "-#porn" every time you put a new search in. In this instance posts that have the hashtag #tits would not show up, but a post talking about how someone's tits hurt, without the hashtag, would still show up. Example 2: same as above but Have a menu in a client that you can put in terms like "tits" or "porn" to filter your feed without having to type them in as "-tits" or "-porn" every time you put a new search in. In this instance posts that have the word tits either in the content of the post or as a hashtag would not show up.
