This is my position on Lightning as well. If CS graduates struggle, that's a good sign it at minimum isn't built for normal people. Does it need to be? Different question, but it isn't. I pretty much gave up and settled for whatever Yakihonne uses and Strike. Phoenix is usually pretty good too. But doing Lightning in the purist way is ridiculous. The Monero boys have a point there.
