Anyone have thoughts on Mullvad vs Obscura? Whatever thoughts you have on the comparison in general, nothing specific at the moment.

We're seeing children with severe burns from stupid TikTok videos. Putting toys into microwaves. I wouldn't be surprised if this is modern form of terrorism/mass harm. If it isn't, it probably will be at some point.

The whole grant thing is pathetic and why I've always said that commercialization (fucking sell me what I want instead of telling me to shut up, be grateful, or do it myself) is the better route. I've even told devs they should give me an easy way to pay monthly and I get ignored, probably because of grants. There's little incentive to make these things economically viable or to figure out what the userbase actually wants. Who is any of this being built for other than a grant committee? Because it doesn't usually feel like me, even when I'm deeply dedicated to a project and take the time to test, share issues, and make improvement suggestions from a user perspective. The incentives are broken. And it's not that nonprofit seed funding is bad. It just shouldn't be relied upon long term. If it's a passion project and you don't care about funding, cool. I get that. I built my own desktop terminal client and kept it to myself. I chose not to release it because I don't care to deal with the bullshit. But if you get grants to create a thing for people to use, there's no economic incentive to do anything except whatever is required for the grant money. The users don't have to matter. You still get paid. Not everyone operates that way, of course, but that's the incentive as far as I can tell.
