Perspective is a funny thing. We have a lot of people start complaining about wait times after being in the emergency department for 1-2 hours. Sometimes under an hour, but those people are less common.
What's interesting is that people in many countries (and some of our cities I hear) wait a lot longer than that. We sometimes have wait times in the 3-4 hour range and that's usually considered a very long time. Like we're falling apart. Usually, people are treated, discharged, or sent to their next level of care long before people in some countries even hope to be seen. Four hours total is probably typical for us. Often people are in and out within an hour or two.
On top of that, we have CT, MRI, XRAY, Ultrasound, surgery and many other major specialties on site or on call 24/7. Transport to other facilities if needed, med flight when weather permits
Anecdotally, I've noticed that those with state provided medical care are often the worst. And they even get a free ride to almost anywhere they want at the end (I've heard of several hours away). I frequently hear complaining about waiting for the free ride. We also give free cab and bus vouchers to these people. Yet they complain the most.
Americans are pretty spoiled and have no concept of what some other places live with.
