A reminder to fact check your favorite small media outlets. It's way too easy to drown in the ocean of information these days. View quoted note →

Like I paid someone I've never met over Lightning in seconds and some high quality soap showed up in my mailbox. @SoapMiner "No one is accepting it because of the insane volatility." Wrong, but there are now products that allow merchants to accept Bitcoin and instantly convert any portion of it into fiat if they want to. I can have my pay converted directly to sats. I can indirectly pay all of my bills using the same products. Try harder. View quoted note →

This Fred Krueger guy speaks with such authority for someone who sounds like he's living years in the past. It's kind of interesting to see old talking points presented as negatives in 2026. Bitcoin is slow and expensive, on chain transactions aren't growing, blah blah blah. Lightning has its issues, but I'm making hundreds of transactions nearly instantly for every on chain transaction I make. The ecosystem has grown massively even since I woke up in 2019. Self-custody is easier than ever. Accepting and spending is pretty easy. There are centralized companies making it so that an 80 IQ could do this if they don't care about privacy or self-custody, which they don't have now anyway. What really makes me scratch my head is the pompous laughter at the fact that it takes a whole fucking ten minutes to send large amounts of value, without intermediaries, anywhere on (and perhaps off) the planet for a lower cost than it would using fiat rails. It's mind blowing how many people talk about this shit so confidently without actually using it.
