Many things in the US piss me off, but few things piss me off like the fact that I can pay cash for a house and still have it taken away if I don't pay a perpetual fee (basically rent) to the government. And they can still dictate pretty much every decision related to the property, basically like a landlord. Some jurisdictions are obviously better than others, but I haven't found a single place where this isn't true to some degree and it grinds my fucking gears.
